Well you guys have heard of this problem from me before, and no, its still not fixed. I am currently apr 1+ should have those numbers and boost in that range. But I dont have any of that, I am basically near stock power (how do I know ? I ran a bone stock passat 1.8t and my hood was 1ft ahead of his.)
My ECU doesnt have a stock program, so thats not it. I just want to know what I should be looking for when I bring the car in to get fixed (i.e. vacuum hose leak, faulty diverter valve, or disconnected hose). I'll explain why I think it could be any of those in a second. I dont have a boost guage but there's obviously power loss.
The symptoms: Loud hissing while in boost, major power loss, I have the equivilent to stock power, when i SHOULD have APR1+ type power.
Possible cause: Well, since it happened right after I got chipped, I remember I was still testing out my full power, and sometimes I dropped into 2nd and floored it right away, and maybe the sudden burst of boost took one of the hoses by surprise, and popped it off.
1. Maybe a vacuum hose, or some sort of hose leak because my friend got one a while ago nd he lost alot of power then once he sealed it up he got it all back. But maybe not, because he got a CEL when it happened, and I didnt.
2. Maybe a faulty DV, when I got the DV put on, the car was fine for 1 day then this happened. Maybe the DV is stuck in the open position. It's Bailey MS DV, but I dont think the possibility for this is high at all, but just a thought.
3. Disconnected hose- I'm thinking maybe the mechanics didnt clamp the hose onto the new DV tight enough and the new boost just popped the hose off. My neighbor with a gt28 b5 a4 had the same thing happen to his DV, and he's boosting the same, just alot bigger turbo behind it. He had to tape his hose on real tight in addition to the clamp or whatever.
4. I gotta get this fixed soon because it's driving me crazy. If they cant find a problem with any of the hoses, then I'm just gonna tell them to take the DV off and put the stock one back on.
I just wanna be able to tell the mechanics what to look for, and what to do, so I walk outta there with a fixed problem and not an known one.
I dont have the necessary tools for a boost leak test so I cant really do that, but I already know theres a boost/power loss so its kinda the next level now.
Thanks for all your help.
