Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What changes where made, technical and cosmetic, in the TT from 1999 till 2001? Need to know if there's some important improvements or something.
    Thanks

    Re: Changes in the TT?

Only significant change ws the availability of the 225 HP (dual SMIC) versus 180. No other significant issues until the 3.2 in 2004 (? IIRC), and then the MkII.

    Define previous faults.

I have a 2000 with 116K running strong. The cluster and temp switch have long since been replaced. All is well.

    Re: Changes in the TT?

I wasn't referring to anything special. Just wondering. If there is any particular reasons to buy the 2000/2001 instead of the 1999. Except the age obviously. Cars are really expensive here in Norway you see

    Re: Changes in the TT?

Get quattro, whatever you do. The US spec (and maybe euro) 2000+ had the spoiler refit after a recall: early TT in US did not have the spoiler.

Make sure the timing belt has been done on a 70K (miles) interval, along with a new water pump (metal, not plastic) and tensioner EACH time.

    Re: Changes in the TT?

Nearly everyone did already. Class action suit I/P too (See AW TT Forum). Happy as a clam at 116K: car has seen 153 indicated on Road Atlanta, and it still makes me smile. All-in-all, too much fun. I've had P-cars and American iron: nothing comes close.

    Re: Changes in the TT?

CLuster is NOT a guarantee. Age, mielage, etc factor into resolution.

Only the lawyers will make any money.
