    knew it'd be trouble

So I have had my car about 3 weeks now. (b6s4). And I knew it was going to get me in trouble. Until now I have never even been pulled over! But I have been driving kinda crazy so I was expecting it. However this Thursday I was taking my friends out to dinner to celebrate my first full week in my new job and there were five of us in the car. and the three in the backseat were big people! Barely able to squeeze in. So I was driving nice and safe and slow. Then I got to a stoplight and an A3 was beside be revving his engine... so when it hit green I tore off thinking that the car would be much slower loaded down. Unfortunately it was not. As soon as I hit about 66 I let off and a motorcycle cop comes tearing out of a parking lot and pulls me. Apparently the speed limit was 45 and apparently the A3 was running a radar detector. He was nowhere to be found. All I can say is that motorcycle cops suck! They hide so well =[. I just moved to Florida and I am definitely not used to so many cops, especially on bikes. Really sucks. So I got stuck with a 66 in a 45. Any advice on what I should do? This is my first ticket. Should I fight it in court or just pay the ticket and suck it up. My insurance is gonna sky rocket...

I don't think there is any way for you to fight it is there? If he got you on radar it seems a cut and dry case

I was wondering of maybe since it was my first offense I could get a reduction in charge? Dunno how it all works.

Show up in court and ask for a reduction...the DA will usually offer a reduction even without you asking. Good luck :)

Ask your friends or coworkers this is FL and all they really want is some cash, so find a lawyer pay the court costs and avoid the points and traffic school. Some lawyers here even off a money back guarantee if they fail. BTW you having never gotten a ticket and being new to the area may help to save you some cash.

I dunno about in FL, but all the tickets I've gotten have been dismissed by the cop not showing up to court. Go to court the first time, plead not guilty, then go again a few months down the road for your "trial". if the cop doesn't show up, the case is dismissed and you're free to go. Try to get as many extensions and continuances as you can. The current ticket I'm working on right now I'm using Ticketassassin.com, but it's for california. god luck!

I have a few friends that are motorcycle cops...if you try to fight it you will LOSE. If you go there hoping that they wont show...sorry they will. They always go to court because they book the tickets on their days off so they can show up and make time and a half. thats how they make a good portion of their salary.

Thanks for all the advice. If I go to traffic school I know you don't get points on your license but you still get points on your insurance don't you? I don't mind paying the fine but I don't want my insurance to hit the fan. And I don't think that my new job will like me taking time off already to go to driving school. Is it offered on the weekends?

As I said it's all about the $$$, you can do school on the weekends and I think you can even rent the video from blockbuster for like $30-40 and then provide the receipt.
