Fromw hat I've gathered it really only looks good with cars that have a low profile.

I've seen a bunch of other cars that get painted flat/matte black and they end up looking stupid/primered. On a really low car that appears to be quality it ends up looking hot because you know it's not cheap primer and that it's flat black.

well said, exactly why lime green or orange looks at home on a murchilago but goofy on a 300c! haha, but i think you can pull almost any color of on an A4 if the car is properly equipped, such as wheels, tint, lowered, ect...

it looks only good if u get it professionally done. my neighbor has a scion tc and he did a DIY matte black and it looks horrible. so i would say no to DIY unless u know how to. but if u get it professionally done then YA

Perhaps I'm a little biased, but I think a flat black Avant would look sick with the right lowering height, wheels, and other little tweaks like painting the headlight housings, titanium package for the interior and the exterior (minus the wheels), etc...

it just looks like a crappy paint job that someone didnt finish.. such a waste of money

only time it could be worth it.. if its on a sick ass expensive car that everyone knows is tight no matter what the paint looks like

otherwise it just looks like an old civic or integra thats been baking in the sun for 20 years

Matte paint looks good when its done professionally. I think it would look sharp on a modded A4!

However, I love seeing cars with a matte red, blue or other color paint job.

Here's a few of my R32. Painted McLaren SLR Satin Black:






I chose the color because it's still flat, but doesn't look like it was rattle can painted.
Still has an almost shine aspect to it, but there's 0 reflection and still retains that dull look nicely. Ironically it's easier to take care of than gloss black too.
