What can I do about this BS?

I bought my Avant February of last year, had the carfax ran before I bought it and it came up clean, and they let me take it home for the night. I drove it around for a while and ran it through its paces, didn't hear any weird noises, no vibrations, drove straight as an arrow, so I brought it back the next day and bought it. Fast forward to today, well over a year later, and the car still doesn't do anything out of the ordinary, still drives straight, nothing that would make you think it's been in a major collision. So I'm getting a quote for car insurance along with homeowners, and they asked how long I've owned it, and then tell me it was in an accident in 2005 with damages totaling $25,000!!!!

So I run the carfax again, and now reporting as of March of this year, an accident in Houston in 2005!!! THANKS CARFAX!! A lot of fucking good that did! So now I have a car that I couldn't even give away! So much for saving all my service records to help out when I sell it.

Now I'm wondering who the fuck dropped the ball and waited 3 years to report this huge fucking accident? DPS? Carfax? I have a great legal plan at work, and I'd like to see what can be done about this, if anything.

um i would hope you would go to an insurance claim adjuster and report the discrepancy and they will file it just say that you bought the car and now this shit comes up and you want either some compensation for this or atleast a full value trade in of what it would be worth if it were treated as new.., but other than that theres not much you can do other than go back to the place you bought it and punch them in the face... 25k ... car should have been totalled for that cash..

Did you sign anything saying that the car was sold as is? Is there clause saying that the car was free of accidents?

    I'd call a lawyer... That's just wrong.

I'd have to check the papers and see if I did or not. I also found the name and # of the previous owner who bought it new, I'm going to call him and ask if he told the dealer that it had been in an accident. I hate to think that my dealer who has treated me so well would do something like this.

Still, this is the last time I rely on a Carfax report for the history of a car. Not only do they not get information from insurance companies, but they don't get DMV information from 22 different states! Way to go Carfax
