Whats the best and most cost efficient way?

    a) i drop in some rods, build my head so i can rev the piss out of my car and take advantage of the larget turbo(gt30 series not sure yet)

    b) Build the engine to 2.0 (which is alot more labor intesnive i hear) and keep stock redline.

i cannot do both cause it is to expensive

Re: So I want to go bigger than my gt28rs

Here is my take on the subject (from an engine-build only standpoint):

    Bottom end build.
    1) bare minimum: Swap out the stock connecting rods for IE rods. Head has to come off for this job.

    2) step two: You can do all of step one plus all new bearings and seals, cylinder hone, new piston rings, IE rods etc...

    3) step three: step two but forged pistons with 20mm wrist pins (piston rings included) and corresponding connecting rods

    4) step four: cylinder bore and hone, new crank..... 2.0L stroker motor

    Headwork:
    1) bare minimum: basic valve seat grind, aftermarket exhaust valves and new exhaust valve guides (if needed).

    2) step one plus aftermarket intake valves and intake valve guides (if needed)

    3) step two plus aftermarket springs and retainers

    4) step 3 plus aftermarket cams

Add in port & polish on any of those steps if you so desire. Add in headwork to any of the bottom end steps.

Re: So I want to go bigger than my gt28rs

It won't be cheap. Whatever you do, don't skimp on quality of build or a step because of cost. It will cost much more in the long run if something breaks or the motor blows.

Go with a reputable shop (especially for your bottom end) that knows how to work with 1.8T engines. Again...this is not an area you want to skimp on. Quality quality quality is the key here.

Fuel is also important...however BIG you go, make sure your fuel components are up to the task as well.

    Good luck!

A set of IE drop in rods and this would do the trick

A 1.8 with a 8500 rev. limit, cams will be a must, and 3076 would work nicely. If you don't up the displacement you need to up the RPMs.
