    GIAC 93 installed yesterday

I had a GIAC 93 flashed to my car last night, and I cannot be happier. Throttle response has gotten better, my MPG has improved, and there is definitely a seat of the pants difference in performance. Although the chip is a bit pricey for only 15-23 HP (according to GIAC) gains, I am very happy with it, and would definitely recommend.

I was told there is a transmission flash available that gives quicker shifts, and a crisper transmission feel overall. Anyone done this? Thinking about it, but I have no information on it.

is your car tip? i just wanted to make sure. GIAC made a tip chip for the RS6. you may want to check with AWE to see if they have it for the S4.

you really should try the race file with some race gas.

I'm happy you like your GIAC flash! Be sure to post more impressions later on after you've had more seat time.

I checked around and at this time GIAC does not make transmission software for Tiptronic 4.2L S4s.

Well that made that decision easy!!

I am getting about 2 MPG better on the highway, which I guess is worth it for ~30 miles more per tank. I have to drive it a bit more to get a full feel of it, for its only been about 18 hours and 100 miles since I had it put in.

The chip with my mods really gives my car a "wow, this is fast" impression, much more than stock. Love it, and although everything was fairly pricey, would do it all again in a second, no regrets at all.

Could be to justify the price in my mind, but I am about as positive as I can be without a dyno that it is faster. I had two neutral people drive my car, who drove it before the chip, and they agreed with me.

    Re: GIAC 93 installed yesterday

i think people confuse the quicker throttle response with actually gains in HP or being faster. an instant throttle response may seem to be quicker because the car is reacting quicker but i yet to see any gains from any chip provider. revo/giac/epl/etc.
on the dyno it should 1awhp (this info was given to me from the owner of a shop who has dyno'd many an B6/B7 S4.) and i know you don't notice that. but as i've stated before...throttle respone is a perk of the chip and compared to out drive by wire lag in our cars...its an instant notice...however...the difference in how the car reacts is perceived as being fast...which i have yet to find the case.

i say if your happy with it...then great!

I have it and noticed it to be a bit more responsive too. I think that it was more the case of manipulating the power/torque curve than it really being "faster". It doesn't feel more powerful but rather a bit quicker.

Along with increased throttle response, I felt like it gained power from 2500-4000. Also, my hwy mpg went up by about 4 mpg!
Cool stuff with a little growl!

Charles, you're kidding me. I though that my GIAC lost torque in this range. It felt flat to me. Interesting! It screamed in the upper range though.

It's a little bitter at first, but you get used to it.

I avg about 22-23 mpg hwy if I stay under 65, and we have the shitty E10 gas here with 91 octane.

I noticed a huge difference between stock and my GIAC flash. All you need to do is flash it back to stock mode if you have a programmer and you will feel the throttle response difference.

    Well worth the price IMO

I definitely felt a difference and saw a difference in mpg w/APR 91 on my 2.0T. So I'm not surprised with your GIAC 93 report. Nice isn't it?
