    Help with Coilovers!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just bought a set of Eibach coilovers and I have noticed that in order to even everything out in ride height, the front threads are way different from each other and so are the rears. The front right has 4 threads left on the coilovers and the left has about 20? Same with the rear? Is this normal? Does the car have more weight to one side? Also it seems that I can't lower the front left anymore...I keep lowering the perch but no real difference in ride height after 25" total? Also there is a squeaking noise coming from the same side. Very noticable over bumps in the road? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would contact Eibach and/or a local garage... 1st Eibach. See if you have a flawed product. I would imagine the fronts to be the same(threadwise).
Did you do the install yourself?
If so, take a couple of buck down to the local garage, and have them look over your work. Maybe they will notice something that you just looked past...

Drive the car as little as possible right now... don't want any un-needed damage.

The squeeking noise could be coming from this nut, make sure you tighten it fully using an allen key and socket (18 mm). Other than that, check the rubber spring seats (if you used them) to make sure the springs are seated properly. If you didn't use the spring seats, try using them.

The coilover writeup here is quite helpful as well.

How do your C/O ride? Mine are very harsh. Also, what do you think could be causing the difference in ride height...I reinstalled everything and compared to the other front assembly and they are exactly the same?

I just installed my eibach CO as well. No issue whatsoever. The thread are pretty much even and everything seems solid. I would check your installation.

    Re: Help with Coilovers!!!

well i just reinstalled and changed out the control arms with brand new ones...eliminated the noise issue but the threads on the coilovers are still about .5" to 1" lower on the drivers side then on the passengers side...both front and rear? I raised the height exactly an inch on all 4 sides and the final ride height was only about .5" different from when I raised them? Weird I know...I have no clue whats going on...all numbers on the springs match with opposite sides. I don't feel anything wrong with the setup except that the ride is pretty harsh, but at least its not as jumpy anymore since I raised it up some.

    Re: Help with Coilovers!!!

Ok guys...look at this picture and tell me if you still need to use that black cover that is located at the top of the strut. The picture only points to the two others. I believe that might be my issue because I put the black piece on the new coilovers and then put the bumper/dustcover over that. Thats ow the old struts were set up but I believe they are getting stuck on the threads and not allowing the car to lower on that one side?
