    Question about giac software

I am planning on buying an used ecu for a 2000 A4, the guy says that it is GIAC flashed, hence there is no chip in it. I just wanted to check the validity of his statement. Is it true that ecu's 2000+ are flashed with no physical "chip"?

Not all software for 2k is flashed. GIAC, and Revo do, but MTM still puts a chip in. And remember the 018Q ECU (with a tiptronic trans) and 018P ECU (with a manual trans) are not interchangable.
