    Suspension Recommendations PLEASE

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought my B5 S4 with Koni coil over sport shocks lowered. I had to change my tie-rods and control arms 3 times in less than 2 years due to the pot holes in NYC. The suspension I have is great for the highway and track but terrible on city roads. I feel every damn bump and it sounds like a sledge hammer every time I hit a hard bump. What kind of new shocks and springs can someone recommend that will give me comfort over pot holes but still keep my car lowered and handle well at high speeds in the highway? Most sport springs and shocks are to damn stiff for bad city roads and regular shocks and springs will raise the car to high and not perform well with aggressive driving. Is there anything in between someone can recommend?

I have Vogtland Coilovers and I commute through Philadelphia every day. The roads here are complete shit, but the Vogtlands DO hold up on moderate potholes. I would recommend these as what you're looking for.

I have bilstien shocks with H&R springs and think the ride is pretty dang nice. Keeps the car low and handles great, yet still is very comfortable. My friend has an S4 with H&R coilovers and the difference in comfort for our cars is like night and day. Sure he can handle a bit better than me becuase they are stiffer, but I am like you, I like some comfort in there as well. I can feel your pain, the roads around here are HORRENDOUS too! Hope that helps!

i've got the koni.vogtland SS kit and couldnt be happier. extremely well balanced, not too low, no "floaty' feeling on the highway, and still great for city roads. cheap too!

    Re: Suspension Recommendations PLEASE

I'm running the Vogt. GT's set at 25" ride height. They seem to eat the bumps in the road very well. However I'm having my fenders rolled today because at hard cornering (especially in a dipping turn) I am having slight rubbing issues.

They are usually back-ordered but if you have the patience I'd say they are worth the wait.

I am just using the stock wheels right now. I don't really have any recent pics and mine not be a good gauge to go by becuase I have the grooved/perched bilstiens that are adjustable and I think that the back is set a little too high for me. I'm looking to set it a bit lower sometime.

I am that friend and I do have to say it rides like a truck. I love it, but my wife hates it. lol. I just got used to the rougher ride. It makes the loud bang noise over rather large holes in the road too. But I love how it handles great around the corners so that makes up for it

I have those to and like them A LOT. At first I was thrown off by some reviews and thought they would be too stiff/harsh, but they're really good.

    Re: Suspension Recommendations PLEASE

I like the Vogtlands, but theyre a little expensive for me at this point...and most places told me they were on backorder and could take a month or more to arrive. Has anyone used the KSports on the s4? I had them on the crx for a short amount of time, but they were far too harsh for daily driving so i took them off. Are they the same way for the s4? Theyre priced really well($900+/-) and are high quiality...but i want a fairly smooth ride for this car as it will see more street time than track time.
