While it's entirely possible that the bluetooth in your nav is crapping out, more than likely it's the phone that isn't really compatible. Has it ever worked properly?

Have you checked out the supported phones list yet? http://www.navplus.us/forums/showthr...+compatibility

    and

You may also want to do a site search there for your particular phone.

The reason I ask is because when I bought my car, I ended up having to buy a new phone too. The phone I had worked with the bluetooth exactly as it was intended, except that I had to dial using the phone because it wouldn't download the address book to the nav.

It's just that some phones work 100%, some not at all, and some work but won't let you use every feature.

If your phone is on the list of supported phones, then I'd say a trip to the dealer is definitely in order.

I just synced my phone last night and it took a few trys to get the phone book to work. I just reset the bluetooth to factory defaults and started over. Third time it took.

the bluetooth is kind of annoying considering you cant get your contacts in the phonebook. Also, I used to be able to use the knob to make phone calls, now all i can do is make calls from my iphone, the telephone menu says that i can only take and drop phone calls.

The dealer also says that PDA phones are a bit more idiosyncratic with the RSN-E. If you have a regular cell phone, everything should work fine. Oh yeah, check that list as well. I have the pdf file in anyone needs.

Mine would also do the exact same thing. It wasn't the unit, it was the phone.
I had two phones and one would work fine and the other would do this.

The phone that I was having problems with is a Treo 750. I finally bought software caled Jet Ware Mobile that has since solved all my Bluetooth problems.

Now I don't have any problems with disconnecting from BT and also my contacts can be synched much easier.

Actually, I did BT on the 1st day of owning the car. Phone went to Starcom for repair and I was using a non-bt phone for the month. Just got the Phone back two days ago and had to re-sync it with the car as they gave me a new Phone.

The phone is an HTC Mogul but I am picking up the iPhone killer on the 20th. That would be the Samsung Instinct M800.

Is that gonna kill the 3G iPhone coming out on the 11th? J/K! Good to see you on the forums again, you've been working no doubt.

I don't know. I would love to have the iPhone but Sprint (worst customer service evar) has got me all locked up and it isn't even about the contract.

I pay them $85 per month and for that I get:

    2000 anytime minutes

3 phone lines up and running.

An extra $12. per month gives me all the internet goodies.

I don't think that anyone is beating this deal right now or can beat this deal ever.

Yes, I have been working but am considering changing careers again and going back to the office or taking my savings and doing something crazy like venturing out and getting some sort of film business started. Whatever it is, I gotta tread lightly and be smart about it as I have a little one to think about also. Can't be risking the family egg on some hair brain idea.

I am dying to do another canyon run with some members. Keep me posted. I might do "The Stand" one night in the near future.

BTW, got the 10mm H&R spacers on all fours and absolutely no vibration.

Check the compatability list. There were a few LG's on the list that were confirmed did NOT work with the RNS-E. (from the first link posted above)

    Re: Rsn-e Bluetooth

Why don't you drop down to the lowest (cheapest) minute plan possible, and pick up an iPhone when the new one comes out July 11th? Then all you do is cancel your Sprint when your the contract runs out. Only bummer about doing it this way is having to change your phone number.

    Re: Rsn-e Bluetooth

July 11th the iPhone is mine.
    Finally corporate compatability!

I can't wait to throw away the Treo 750 - definitely the worst phone I've ever owned!

You can actually keep your number and use it with any carrier. I can't get another $85/2,000 minute per month deal with three phones on the plan, from any other carrier. Like I said, Sprint has got me.

Good idea though if the carrier doesn't make you sign a new contract for changing your plan. I know that some carriers do that. Sprint might be one of them.

    Wait, is this right?

Is the only solution then to get a cradle and download the phone book through that?

I have a Blackberry 7130e, no problems making calls and so forth, but I can't get the phonebook to work. I see a list of everyone's name in my address book. I don't know how they got in there, but the only way to select them is to scroll through the list either with the roller on the steering wheel or through the dial on the MMI. I have 1600 phone book entries. I need to narrow down the list a bit. There's a setting in the bluetooth in the phone to only send phone numbers from a certain named category which I can select. I'm going to create a new category called "car" and only sync that one through bluetooth and see if that changes anything.

    Re: Rsn-e Bluetooth

Found this thread on the blackberry forums. Doesn't look like it'll work:

    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/...thread.id=6827

It's not a problem to pull out the phone and look someone up, but it's much better if I can keep my eyes on the road.

    there's 2 phonebooks...

    1. the one in the actual RSN-E (or RNS-E?) ... and I have no idea what the use of that is.
    2. the one in your phone...and that loads into your screen everytime you get in the car

i.e. when I am in the car, I click the MODE button on the wheel, and my address book comes up on the NAV screen if in TELE or on my DIS (between speedo/tacho)

then I scroll through my phone's address book for the right name/number using the left thumb scroller on the wheel. When I find the number I want to call, I click the left thumb wheel in to dial.

    Re: Rsn-e Bluetooth

Yep, that's what I'll have to do. I created a new category, and in the Bluetooth properties for the Audi on my blackberry I told it to transfer only selected categories. So those numbers are available through the mode button.

So what happens if you can transfer your phonebook and have it available? Can you actually speak a name and have it dialed?

Strong 4 after you get used to it. Novelty factor, big screen and strong Verizon signal make up the shortcomings for me. No doubt about it, first few weeks I was ready to take advantage of 30 day return policy, but leaked OS upgrades have made vast improvements over the first OS that shipped.
