Had to mess with Shawn ! I finally took his advice and got a real "Big Turbo Setup"

Construction begins tomorrow. Wish me luck.

The new V2 version is hella heavier than the old and now has ribs for strength

ive been trying to get a used APR mani, but i guess ill be trying a new ATP mani as well... it does look better... how is that 3" TIP compare to winston's metal TIP i wonder?

I got a good deal on the turbo and it only kicks in a few hundred RPM later, hopefully that will aid me in staying on the boost too much.

I do her laundry every day so that I don't have to run

unless you run into some kind of problem it should take way less than 10 hours. If you know what you are doing (what to take off and replace without having to look aimlessly at the car) then you could relistically take the stock turbo and manifold out as well as the cat then swap in a test pipe or high flow cat with the new turbo and mani in less than 5 hours. The bolts holding the cat to the exhaust might be a pain since they are probably rusted so be sure to get 3 new bolts and nuts for that.

Then don't forget to put the back bolt through the manifold (of the 3 that hold the turbo) before bolting it to the head because you cant slide it through after the mani is installed since it is up under the head.

Custom machined compressor inlet and EBC/N75 boost port tap on compressor housing.

The stock (cast) compressor inlet is stepped and not smooth on the inside. ASP cuts it off and CNC machines a solid, one-piece, inlet. This way the ID of the compressor inlet is the same the whole way in. In theory, it reduces turbulence. My GT28RS was like that and this modification is part of the ASP GT28RS kit.

probably won't help as much as it should.... just make a wrench, or get a 12mm crow's foot w/as small a drive as you can find... then take a bench grinder to it.

Im gonna school you real quick and hopefully others will catch on. First off no it's not the same as what Greg runs. Greg runs a 71r Eliminator not a GT2871r. Then a GTRS is NOT a GT2860RS which others seem to think all the time.

The GTRS and the 71r Eliminator turbos are the same exact compressor and turbine housings which are BOTH SMALLER (as in both turbos and both housings) than the GT2871r and the GT2860RS. The center section which has the wheels (turbo blades) is the same, but like I said the housings are smaller. This means the inlet for the turbo is smaller and the casing for air to flow through is smaller and the exhaust inlet is much smaller (where the air comes in from the manifold to spin the turbo). The GTRS and 71r Eliminator turbos have a tiny K03 flange (same as the stock turbo) unlike these others that have a much bigger T3 or T25 flange to spool up the turbo, and like I said before the exhaust housing is a custom cast piece from ATP made with that K03 flange so it can bolt to the stock manifold and this turbine housing aka hotside of the turbo is smaller.

Footnotes: 71r Eliminator is not a GT2871r, it is smaller.
GTRS is not a GT2860RS, it is smaller.
