New climate control unit installed. "ECON" light won't go off -- SOLVED!

So, to enhance my new B7 center console conversion, I decided to get a new climate control unit because the buttons were peeling on the old one.

Now, the new unit turns on and everything but the ECON light stays on and pressing the button won't turn it off. Also, this means that the A/C will not turn on. Do I have to VAG this thing to have it adapt or something??

Also, just to check, I put my old unit back in and the A/C does come on with it.

    Any ideas??

Gernally when the Econ light stays one its because there is a leak in the A/C unit. but this doesnt sound like your case. Sorry couldnt help, but do you have pics of the upgrade?

Old school method would be resetting the car battery for like 20 minutes, if vagging it produces no results

I don't even know what the VAG procedure would be.

More than likely a combination of coding/basic settings need to be carried out.

I had to use VAG-COM: HVAC Module -> Basic Settings -> Group 001.

    That's it. Works fine now.

I installed double-din version climate control to my B6 and the ECON light won't go off. Can you explain excactly what i have to do with the VAG-COM if I found someone how has it or ask if they can do that in some service shop. Thank you!

Just tell them that. If they have VAG-com, they should know what you're talking about.
