ebay tail light issue

ok B5 A4 guys, I have a ? for you

I have a 2001.5 S4 with black tail lights which I wanted to swap out for the OE look

I bought a pair on Ebay and the bulb mounting pattern in the rear does not fit

my question is what is the difference between the 96-98 vs the later models, could these blacked out lights be the earlier style and if I bought that style from the same seller would they work?

Shows you the diff in the tails. There are actually 3 diff styles that were oem and you are going to want 99.5+

no mine are on the right, the are the dark style.... the ebay ones are on the left

well in that case it seems you have the old tails. You need the newer style wiring harness.

Why does your car have old style tails if you have an S4

i think it is because the guy who owned the car before me wanted the dark lights and converted the car to accept those

are you sure this is the old style mounting pattern for the bulbs? If so I will swap with the vendor and be very happy!

Your black lights have the old style bulb pattern, like the 96, 97 A4's have.
