Improved times at the track tonight......

Alright couple weeks ago I took the new s4 to the track.
car is a 2000 nogaro with 127k 6spd rebuilt trans newer oem clutch, OEM turbo's, chipped for 2k miles.

    Performance Mods: apr chip

Non performance mods: darintake, removed resonator, 19" privat wheels
22lb's + tires, apr boost gauge, 92 octane, Forged 007's.

On the way: SSautochrome turbo back and collecting stage 3 mods, prolly intercoolers next.

Anyway 2 weeks ago I ran a 14.4 could not get the car to go any faster. At the time I had just swap'd dv's from 710n's to 007's I was having a boost leak problem on both forge dv's and to fix the problem I ended up running the dv's backwards. I was also running 19" rs4 dtm reps that was 65lb's a wheel/tire!!! So I swap'd back to the privat 19"s that weighed 9lbs less and fixed the boost leak. Heres my times, you can see them in proved as I increased the RPM's at launch. Btw in 2nd gear im only holding 15psi, do you think my stock IC are taking a shit? or maybe a small boost leak in the F hose? The inner part of the F hose dosnt have a clamp but I didnt see a boost leak last time I pressure tested. Never tested the IC's for leaks tho because I didnt have the bumper off.

yeah, you're getting there compared to last time....but your 60ft are still GARBAGE....are you launching at idle, lol? Try blipping the throttle up to about 4100rpms and when the tach is on the upswing slip it out FAST like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ibzf7zFkT7A .For comparison the first time I ever launched my car at the track, I only got 1 run in I ran an 8.60 @ 83 mph with JUST a chip with a 1.80 60 ft time...I was just as much of a noob at launching as you are. You just can't be afraid to beat on the car. Allthough I have been drag racing for many years, i've only launched rwd cars, awd cars are a totally different ballgame. Keep at it, you'll get it.

First time i ever launched/ran at a track i got my best run of the day.

5K clutch drop 1.8 60ft on worn out 452's on stock rims and 12C track temps so terrible traction.

I did a 4k launch the first time at the track and I pulled a 1.9 60ft with a boost leak. I know the difference in my launches but last night I was trying not to slip the clutch like when I did launching at the track last time at 4.5 blipping the gas

What tires are you running? What psi are the tires? Were you there with anyone so they could see if you were spinning off the line at all?

Have you dyno'd your car yet? You may want to do that to make sure your car is making the hp/tq numbers it should. If it's making good numbers on the dyno, then you will know it's a traction/launching/shifting problem that you will get better at with more practice and trips down the track.

Re: Improved times at the track tonight......

At the time the car had 235/35/19 Bridgestone RE960 pole positions at 40ish psi on my 13. second runs I was getting a little churp out of the tires. I know alot of it was my launch because it'd bog down everytime for about a sec tell it hit boost again, But alot of it is launching with 19"s is like 22"s or something if you rev it too much at launch it will just burn the hell out of the clutch and thats what I was not trying to do. Next week ill have the exhaust and 18"s with 205/40/18's so hopefully ill get a little bit better acceleration. Im also gonna pull the bumper off check the IC's for boost leaks, install a snub mount. I think the downpipes/exhaust will help alot, Im really just wondering why its only holding 15psi......

Good to see the improvement in your times. Keep working at it, it will be interesting to see how the car runs once you get your 60 ft and shifting down. Stage I APR is configured for 1 bar (14.5 psi). You should only be seeing 15 psi.

Those are terrible times dude, my A4 on a stock ko3 ran a 14.6, and you're having problems staying in the 14s in an chipped S4. Got to work on your launch man.

Yeah, def need to work on the rowing skillz and launch. I ran 13.9 in my S4 before it even had a chip, on 110k ko3s AND clutch. Ran 8.8 in the 1/8 on that run aswell with a 1.85 short time with that clutch. Keep working on it, it will come.
