Lake County CCS 6.5in Pad Kit worth it?

    Hey fellas

I will be picking up a porter cable 7336 soon, and I was wondering about the different pads to get for it. I'm looking on Detailer's Domain and am curious if you think the 6.5inch pad kit is worth the money or not. Am I really going to use all 6 different types of pads? My other thought was to just pick up a black, white, and orange pad (~$33).
I will be using Adam's revive polish, swirl & haze, buttery wax. Three different products, which is why I thought why not just three different pads. Thanks in advance!

    Get

    4 orange,
    4 green
    4 white
    2 black

It is difficult to spur them clean with the PC. so get 1 pad for each 1/4 of the car. The exception being the black wax pad.

In general i will used 2-3 pads per half car.

Right on the money! The most common pads used are the orange and white. You absolutly need those pads if any. Black and Blue are finishing pads, so you may want one or two, but you don't need them. Just nice to have...thats all.

You go through 4 orange and 4 white for every car you polish?

I had no idea I would need that many! I thought buying an extra two might be overkill. Can you at least reuse them? And what do you mean by "spur them clean?"

Thanks for the help. I am about to do my first polish job soon, and want to be as informed as possible!

Yeah, that seems like a lot of pads for a detail. But I have no clue, and I'd like to be informed as well!

Can you fill us in on what exactly you'll be doing? Paint correction, maintenance, etc.? I saw the list of materials you'll be using, being swirl & haze, revive and butter wax, and if you're going to be doing more paint correction than maintenance, I would invest more money in better product than pads. Pads definitely make a difference, but you want the correct combination of pad and product.

I would go with 5.5" pads instead of 6.5". Id also say blue and gray pads are important if you want to go after maximum gloss.

Everyone is different on how they do thing. Grouse knows what hes doing, so if 4 pads work for him, run with it! I use 2-3...and for correction, 4 or more! Its easier to pull a pad off and stick a new one on, rather than having to clean it, and put it back on. Time is money...for some of us! You can reuse all the pads, if cleaned well after each usage, they can last for some time!

Spur it clean means to clean the pad...usually done while the pad is on the machine, spinning then, you take a brush or a spur and press it against the pad. Thats the quick way of cleaning...if you only have a couple pads and not alot of time.

Just so you all know when ordering up pads you don't have to get the kit in the description.

You can request for 3 white or 3 orange etc...

as long as you get 6 you are good to go.

Well I will be doing a little correction and then maintenance on my car. But I would like pads for everything so I can do other cars as well. You say better product (polish/wax etc.) What would you suggest?
