    STOMPED a GTO today...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ironically the first time someone has ever tried to race or keep up with me in Colorado. Can't say the same while I was out in Cali Don't know any specs on the GTO I actually raced but it has 400hp/400tq stock. It had hood scoops so I'm sure it was a 6.0L. We did the cat and mouse game. He was behind me obviously. 2 different pulls from 70-140mph. By the time I hit 140 I was 10+ car lengths ahead of him both times. The look on his face was priceless to say the least. Damn Wyoming people I am very happy with the power delivery of this car now. Just need to get back on the dyno and to the track. Will try to get some time in the next couple weeks to do both. Lack of funds recently is not expediting the matter lol

I am sure you know this, but a N/A motor wont fair to great against a FI motor at such great altitude.

Yeah, his 400hp car would be lucky to be making 300 at that point. Still a nice kill though.

Agreed...I have a buddy out in Colorado that used to have an LT1 Fbody like my old one with the exact same mods. I could run the 1/4 in low 11's (out in SoCal) and he couldn't beat the local mountain biker...haha

Good job with the kill though :)

    Re: STOMPED a GTO today...

yeah obviously at this elevation I would fair much better being FI. It does make me feel good though to know I can walk on a 6L GTO so easily up here. I have a few friends that want to see how they fair with me. One has a 450chp hybrid ko4 S4 (conservative tune), one with a C6 Vette, one with an '03 twin turbo 911, and the other with a modified GTO. Those cars are more in my ball park as of now. Should be a good comparision once I get to run with them. Eric, I'm still on revo bt 550cc 8500 tune. The only way I change tunes now is if I go with a custom file and fly someone out to Colorado to do it.

There's a bike race in late September in CB. I've gotta sweet talk some people at work to let me go (have no more vacation days). I'd like to drive the Avant out for a week. Will keep you posted.

    Re: STOMPED a GTO today...

Oh, it was a 6L. Made sure to really check the car out and listen to the engine as I let it pass me. No V6 could ever try to keep up like his car was doing, especially up here. It was no slouch by any means. My audi tech friend drives the modified GTO (long headers/exhaust) and he even thinks my car will walk his after riding in mine. I personally would never own an N/A car at this elevation.

We are talking about a mid 14 second car at his altitude.

    Re: STOMPED a GTO today...

Yeah, pretty much would be my guess Mike lol. I'd guess a 6L GTO stock would pull 14.1-14.5 up here on 91+ octane. My K04 setup on 112oct could only pull high 14's up here. Granted the conditions were shit, but that's life. I'm hoping for a high 12 sec car up here. Basic setup APR 3+ on 1.8T can do mid 13's up here on 104oct (PTwiggins)

Crazy how altitude kills naturally aspirated cars power, to bad you are in the clouds or we could have a good comparison for most others to relate to. I have ran a stock GTO at the track at "sea level" and it ran a 12.8 1/4 mile.

    Labor Day = Sept 1st.

With a busy July and Aug for bike races mileage adds up quickly for me. Hence why I'm busting my ass this month to get the car back together and running. This will allow me to go back to ASP for final tuning in mid to late September pending their shop schedule.

With the Stasis center diff and under power the back end wanted to come out but Jordan could easily control it. The car felt so balanced. I can't wait to see this thing on the track, it is going to beat the living s*it out anything short of a full blown race car.

    that's a lot of "!!!!" especially when you're wrong.

GM never put a V6 in the newer GTOs. 2004s had the LS1 5.7L V8, and 2005+ had the LS2 6.0L V8. Even those two are easily distinglished by different exhaust and hoods.

Better yet. there was never a 6 cylinder in any GTO ever made! Even dating back to 1964 when the first model year came out. It has always been a V8.

Now, the Tempest came in a 6cyl and can often be mistaken for a GTO. The GTO, originally, was basically a souped up version of the Tempest (option package). It wasn't until 1966 where the GTO became its own model line.

yes finally someone who paid attention in school. i have this debate with co-workers(Dodge dealership) all the time, they think their 5.7L and 6.1L HEMIs are getting the advertised power numbers up here.... funny when a stock STi smoked his Charger R/T, he shut up for like a month.... very nice kill BTW, i've driven a GTO before and feel it is overrated.

You should tell them to put their dodge hemis on a dyno up there and see how quick they want to buy a SC or sell the car for a something that is FI already.

yeah a supercharged 6.1L would be pretty sweet until you have to pay for gas... at this altitude i have yet to drive a naturally aspirated car i liked. the other day i drove a 4.2L A6 with a friend from sea level and he didnt believe it was a V8 because of how it drove

Well those guys could go Twin turbo on their V8's, even at low boost would help a ton.

N/A at this elevation will lose ~1+ sec in the 1/4 mile. FI will lose about ~.6 seconds.......conditions depending.
