Re: What tires are on your 17" sport suspension

just yesterday i put on my second set of the goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3's. i like them, had good wear pattern on the old set. only thing was they got loud when the tread got low. they are really good in the rain, and that was important cause my wife drives the car sometimes, and we live in orlando.

was also looking at the michelin ps2's, but on tirerack the goodyears had a 50 buck rebate. they were still cheaper, and the reviews i read-the price difference really didn't justify the performance difference.

Re: What tires are on your 17" sport suspension

Ive had 3 sets of tires now, the tires that came on the car were summer tires, Continental ContiSportContact, loved these tires, they handled great in both dry and wet conditions the only down fall was how quickly the tread wore out. My next set of tires were all seasons, Pirelli PZero M+S, the traction was good in all conditions and the tread wear was good as well. I just recently got Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season these are the worst out of the 3. haven't had them long so i cant tell you how the tread wear is but the traction on these SUCK! haven't been in snow with them yet thro, I have slid out twice in wet conditions since I've had them and even have spun almost 360deg after hitting a small puddle.

Out of all 3 I would say the Pirelli PZero's were the best over all! but if you dont rly care about tread wear then the Continental ContiSportContact are awesome tires.

Yokohama Avid H4S. I do a lot of highway driving. Noise, tread wear (500) and comfort are pretty good on these.

Re: What tires are on your 17" sport suspension

I'll second the PZero Nero's. I had them on my 17" wheels and they were great.

I've got General Exclaims on my 19" now and can't complain so far. A nice quite ride, good traction. Seem to have good tread wear although I haven't had them for all that long. All in all a good package for the price that you pay.

My second set of tires were Yokohama AVS ES100's. I liked them OK...great looking tire with good traction. I let my car go out of alignment and waited too long, so they went to an early grave. My only complaint is that they were noisy.

I'm actually driving on Dunlop Winter Sport M3's right now! I should have my 19" MTM Bimotos on soon enough...

I too do a lot of highway driving and would like more than the avg. 30-35k miles out of a set of tires. Some of the tire stores say these tires don't meet the cars recommended speed rating. These are my number one choice right now though

Re: What tires are on your 17" sport suspension

...now see, I'm completely happy with the difference in performance from my new Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons...of course, I was coming from Kumho Ecxsta ASX (cheap dealer tires on the car at time of CPO purchase)...It is easy to push the limits of the new F1s but they feel worlds better getting to that point than the ASX's did...

050A are top rated by ADAC.
They used to make S0-3's with really stiff sidewalls. it was great tire but no more.
I will be getting Conti Sportcontact3 since I can get them dirt cheap. I had a chance to track a car with those and really liked them.

ContiSport Contact 2... Just bought a second pair, great traction in dry and wet conditions. But like said before the tread wear isn't the best.

these tires RULE. great in rain, snow, light ice, dry, and that sidewall is a wondrous invention. when you get them -- get the fattest person you know to sit on the tire and see if they can make it flex... it took me and two friends putting all our weight on one to make it bend at the shop.

Re: What tires are on your 17" sport suspension

I have Bridgestone LM-22's on my OEM sport wheels, switched to 18's for the summer after my CPO P6's wore out. I for one, actually like the P6's for an all season tire (only one I've had on the Audi, but compaired to other A/S tires on other vehicles). The P6's were a little on the noisy side and wore out in about 25k for me.
I have Riken Raptor ZR's on it now for the summer and for the price IMO are an exceptional value (good ride, dry/wet grip is great and cornering is good [no sidewall flex] for such a low priced tire).

Re: What tires are on your 17" sport suspension

I've got over 15k mi on my B'stone Potenza RE050A PPs and wow... the guy who flipped my winters on last October asked if they were brand new! Considering a 140 treadwear rating that's impressive.

Quiet, responsive, and they slice through standing water like a hot knife through butter at freeway speeds. Just don't expect much for grip below 3C.

I'd buy again, but I may also go with the RE-01R because I hear they're stickier even though the treadwear is rated the same. Though Vredstein Sensantas look and are reputed to be amazing too.

(Not a fan of: Dunlop 9000 Max, PZero Rossos, cheap Potenzas. Compared to my tyres, that is.)

my sport 17" rims are wrapped with Bridgestone Blizzak LM25s.

my VMR RS4 replica 18" rims are wrapped with Kumho ECSTA SPT tires because I prefer cheap tires since I wear through a set every year.

I used to have a lot of front inside wear with the Kumho ASX. I switched to the Yokohamas. An Audi turner shop recommended to keep to pressure closer to 40psi rather than the lower 30's. At 16k, they are doing great.
