I made a post here a few days ago about a start up issue. After taking a close look around the engine bay, I noticed a hissing so I took some things out to get a better look and this is what I found during that process, in order.

2001 awm, stock turbo, 65k miles.

Taking off the hose that connects the intercooler to the manifold had oil inside of it? Where could this come from? I'm hoping not the turbo..

#2 what is this, is it supposed to be connected to something? if so, what? part number?

#3.. I think this is where the hissing is coming from. This hose is covered with oil and dirt. If it's leaking, it's a slow leak... I get the feeling there shouldn't even be oil going through this hose, but what do I know? Most importantly, whats the part number? I want to get it replaced asap (hopefully tomorrow).

I want to get these fixed before I fix my startup problem, because these could be the cause.

thanks a lot for any help. i've been searching and I'll continue to search, but either i'm not creative enough in how i search or theres not much info.

alright, it seems as if oil in the intercooler isn't a big problem, and that theres always a small amount of oil in there. good to know.. as that was my biggest concern.

pic #2 is the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve - N112 - That part is not supposed to be connected to anything.

Pic #3 is the Crankcase Ventilation. That hose is very soft and prone to failure. Sorry, my Bentley Audi Manual does not have a part #

yeah i checked my bentley too, without any luck, didn't even find the name.

#2, i had a feeling it wasn't supposed to be connected to anything because of the rounded off end. but wondered why even use the hose.

thanks a lot, you really helped me out. i'm leaving for two weeks in a couple of days and wanted to get this done by then. now to see if i can find the part number.

not finding anything under that name.. i didn't want to remove it in fear of tearing it even more because it's in a hard to reach area, then not being able to drive to pick up a replacement. i'll see what i can do, in the mean time any more help is appreciated.
