Engine Whistle Under Load

After my MP3 player went dead, I had no choice but to listen to the sound of my car last night. While engaging in some…um…"thifty" driving, I’ve noticed that under "heavy load" I hear this bizarre whistle coming from the engine bay consistent in volume and duration for the pressure and duration of me mashing the gas pedal . At first I thought that it was my Blackberry on the ashtray that was creating interference with the speakers, but after leaving it at home and blasting down the straight to turn one (aka the corner just down the street), I can confirm that it is definitely coming from the engine bay.

• No CELs
• No loss of power
• A quick glance into the engine bay shows that everything seems to be connected. (I could not see my Turbosmart diverted from above so I cannot confirm a secure connection but will in the next day or so
• Does not happen under casual or medium pedal input, only spirited input

Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Hey Tgr_Clw, not the turbo whine, this odd whistle has only appeared last night and drowns out all other engine and turbo sound. This whistling thing is ridiculously loud and after trying to figure it out all day, it now has the sound of a pop at the end of it. It sounds like I have a drawf referree trapped under my hood trying to call a flag on the play then snapping bubble wrap when he's done

This is my 11th turbo charged car and I am quite familiar with the sound of turbo spool but I have never heard this sound before on any of them including my triple rotary Rx-7...not a turbo newb

You have a boost leak my friend. Not a big one if its only under heavy load, but a leak nevertheless.

It sounds like your suction jet pump coming apart. Check this out http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...t=suction+pump

Have someone give it gas while you look at that part and it should start to come apart. You will see it pulling apart, if in fact this is the problem. I had the same thing happen.
