    Police - what's the deal

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Figured I'd post this in the Socal region as I have no idea whats going on anywhere else...

Is it just me or is there a 100% increase in police units on the street lately? It just seems that within the past month or two, I've been seeing waaaaaay more police (in LA county at least) than there used to be?? If there has been in increase in the state's budget for the police, I really wish they would use the money wisely and train these policemen to do their job correctly.

Recently, I was pulled over by a cop for not having a front plate, exhaust, and tint. The ridiculous thing is, I HAVE a front plate, run a STOCK exhaust, and....yes, I have tints. Can't win em all but jeebus give me a break. After deliberating with the cop for 10 minutes, he decided he would give me a fix it ticket and tell me to "have a good day"

I saw a guy with a stock dolphin grey b7 downtown on Los Angeles st. got pulled over and was in handcuffs. His car looked completely stock, but the cops had his hood popped and was looking at his engine.

Re: Police - what's the deal

summer = heat = people tend to go crazy = more crime.

just a statistic i was talking to a former pd friend who worked chicago for years back.

it's just unfortunate with all the child molesters out there, car enthusiasts get harassed for having a passion, albeit not strictly following CA guidelines who get stopped. =(

plus, with the economy the way it's going these agencies have to raise more revenue.
more traffic stops = more tickets
more camera stoplights = more tickets
did i see you just cross on red = more tickets
and more tickets = more revenue.
more revenue = more donuts(kidding, but i had to put it in there)
You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling...

Re: Police - what's the deal

I hear what everyone is saying BUT here is my take:

    Yes: we do need cops
    Yes: people do stupid things
Yes: there are bad/stupid people everywhere

BUT: Where in the hell did we go wrong as to allowing law enforcement / the govenment to tell and dictate how they bring in revenue!? I see (in OC / socal) cops pulling over / harrassing people (mainly younger kids / CHILDREN) all the frickin time! Here is my view on it:

Why are they giving tickets and ARRESTING people/KIDS on what most would see as a minor infraction (yes i do believe street racing, and acting completely recklous should be delt with) but my job does not take away the freedom, seperate them from their families, and show them the value of the sun hitting your face by incaseration the hard way!! Problem with jail is that the judicial system (whether you want to believe it or not) does NOT rehabilitate anyone (on any level of a crime) once you are behind the bars. You get even more bitter, fall behind in society, oh and not to mention obtain a master degree in the art of being a criminal.

I personally do not want my tax dollars to pay for a "peace officer" to ticket and jail a child or have to watch (not all but majority that I have come into contact with on even the smallest of infractions) puff out their chest like their sh*t doesnt stink. I understand there is are really good cop but who the hell do police think they are? How have we allowed them to get to this level of control?? I know we need cops, and I am VERY GRATEFUL TO THE ONES WHO DO IT WITH COMPASSION and are in touch with reality but as we the people spend our money and time on frivilous sh*t like clothes, cars and other HOBBIES that do not spread love but builds one's ego or takes up our time we ignore the fact that the country is putting more people behind bars then any other country in the world!!!

DO NOT GET ME WRONG: I love America and how clean the OC is, and I am not a nut from any war... I am 25 yrs old, white, and have never had the financial support of parents (unlike the numerous spoiled children and adults YES ADULTS I see around me in oc) I have paid for every last thing you see on me. My home town I got checked for being on the wrong street at the wrong time. My friends were shot stabbed and beaten w/o reason. Orange county has a little too much money with too litle parenting (I know that is a generalized comment so dont drop jaw) but you can't call me a liar either... Going from a life of constantly in danger where cops find reasons to incarserate and see what your doing to coming out west to see a cop swinging d*ck on no front plate, tint, supsension, not using the blinker, skating, etc is just FOOLISH and obserd!

I do not mean to offend anyone reading my post but if anyone does not see some/any of the mentioned above then forgive me but you: 1. have your head up your @ss, 2. ignorant, or 3. obviously are too occupied with aquiring the latest and greatest "thing" on the market that you will not find any interest in by the next month.

Again forgive me for being offensive to some, but please realize the un needed jail time that is being given out to you, your brother, sister, mother, father, etc Not to mention the county waisting the damn money I worked so hard for... PEACE ;P
