UTAudi, I feel your pain. It happened to me too on 4/2/08 @ 5:15 am on the way to location on a shoot day. All I'll say is 2 weeks of working TV Commercial Location Managing jobs for 18 hours a day, then onto this job I was on, and some guy in a Tundra stops short for a yellow, and wham. I had my foot on the brakes for about 1-2 seconds before impact. Avant is gone. It's a total when the timing gear gets taken out.
Wife & I are sharing her S-Line Sedan for the time being. Plus I'm working out of the house mostly doing badges for you guys, so thanks for helping me out there. This is a bit of a confession time for me - sorry for thread jacking, so here are the pics:




I just settled with the insurance. Got $3400 cash out of it. Insurance paid the full loan amount of $30K!

I was driving back from work at about 11 pm and coming out of a hairpin a drunk driver was 3/4 in my lane, luckily i missed him. Unfortunately my back right tire slipped down into a deep pothole off the side of the road, i crossed the road and hit a tree going about 35-40 mph. The drunk #*%& ran off the road so luckily he didnt get very far. I only got a shiner and a busted lip from the airbag, so they're pretty damn safe!

Wow, both of these really suck. It sounds like the only injuries were minor in both cases. It's interesting to see in both sets of photos how little, to no damage there is to the passenger compartment other than airbags deploying. It's nice to know that Audi has engineered really, really safe and strong cars.

Confession time here too. I have to admit that I hit a 4" curb head on at night a couple of weeks ago avoiding a deer. The impact broke all 4 wheels and ruined all 4 tires, and the lower right front control arm had to be replaced and that was it. Hopefully I will never own another brand of car.

wow thats some crazy stuff. I'm glad to hear everyone is alright. I luckly wasn't in my Audi when i was in my accident back in feb. No, it doesn't work that way. You have to buy the salvage wreck back from the insurance co. I didn't want to pay. Yeah, it would have been nice to scavenge parts from it.

Do all audis have side impacts?

The newer A4s (B6 & B7, maybe earlier) have sideguard curtain airbags and front side airbags standard. Rear side airbags are optional.
