tint windshield??

I saw a g35 last week with a tinted windshield and it look awsome, and now one of my firends had got his b6 a4 tinted 35% ALL round. tinting a windshield makes a big difference. He also painted his roof black so with the tint and black roof his silver car looks great.

What do you guys think about tinting the windshield? also the tint shop says they want $100 just to do the windshield.

I've heard of windshield being tinted as well and $100 seems a little to high but thats just IMO.

I have my windshield tinted 35% and wouldnt have it any other way. I went with 5% all the way around and the 35 on the front. IMO 5 all the way around is a little dark but other than that I love it. Nothing like the tint keeping your car cool in the summer when you run in somewhere for about 30 min.

Why would you ever want to tint your windshield? You would definitely get pulled over for that. Plus, it'll be harder to see the road at night.

I was thinking of doing mine 35%, the damn windshield brings in a crap load of heat - specially with a black interior, BTW, 35% is not dark at all, even at night its easy to see through.
Also, it would help with the sun and car lights. Its been a thought of mine for a while, didnt think too many people actually would do it though...

^it looks good, but i def. think cops would give it lots of attention in states where tint is illegal. Around here in PA, ive NEVER seen a tinted windshield.

I know in MD they would. I get pulled over constantly by motherfucking state troopers just to check my tint, but my tint is 35% so they can go fuck themselves.... I know windshield tint would be a problem here in MD, waisted money...

In Ohio, they only allow tinting the top 3 inches... not the whole windshield. Props to those who can do that. I guess I'm just used to having tint on the sides and back.

In my state (LA) you can only tint the top of the windshield. The front side windows can be 40% and the back windows can be 25%. I want it as dark as legally possible but I also think it would look better if it matches. Should I do 40 for both front and back or would 40 and 25 look fine. 12 for the rear by the way.

Also, what happens when I change states? Can I get a ticket in one state even though I am legal in the state I got the work done?

second.. mine is done as well.. i put a strip as well though to make it look like it has a break in it like its not tinted.. after two years i was pulled over by a trooper a few weeks ago. But it was drizzling, i was wearing black jacket and hat so along with the black leather, you couldnt see shit!

The main reason for this is heat reduction, right? At least that's why I want to do it. A light tint (35%-50%) would still allow safe driving while reducing the heat and UV that passes through.

BTW i have 15% all the way around except the windshield which is 50% it doesnt make a big difference except at dusk ... if you tinted it at 35%, that would be annoyingly dark and hard to see out of....

It's not about you seeing others, it's about them seeing you, it's a safety issue, and it is irresponsible towards everyone else you share the road with. And the fact that you think your vision is perfect, despite the fact that 65% of all light is blocked from reaching your eyes, suggests you think you're a better driver than you really are. I don't care why you tint your windshield, but don't go claiming it's safe and you see perfectly fine.

depends on the tint, but if 3M, both 35% or 50% will prevent 99% of UV comming through equaly. UV penetration has nothing to do with the tint percentage. Ofcourse the darker it is the better it will be for the actual light from the cooling perspective.

As far as safety Bixenons and 6000k Fog lights brighten the road more than you can imagine. and as said above i can see great at night and it helps with oncoming drivers glare as well

Im not even going to get into the safety of seeing the driver because imo you should be aware of your surroundings and know potentially what could/may happen in a given situation

i daily drive the car like this with 35% on the windows and 50 % on the windshield and had the guy put a tint strip like a normal car and every time i get pulled over ( only once in the 8 months ive had it for tint related stops) the cop looks at it but get thrown off cuase of the tint strip.. to clarify when looking out you wouldnt even be able to notice that its tinted!!
Also chances are that if your getting pulled over for tint on the windows that there gonna ticket you anyway, and in jerseys case its a $52 ticket.. gotta pay if you wanna play

in the past, i would be agreeing mxrz 100% but since tinting mine, i have to disagree. unless you have driven a car with a tinted windshield you cant speak. i will agree my sides are too dark but i did it for looks, my car is just a weekend car now... but the front is only 50% and if you have ANY tint on your car, people cant see your "eyes" and besides most people have their head too far up their ass or are so into their cell fone conversation or txt to know whats going on around them anyway to be looking for someones eyes

Who am I? I'm another human with the same human vision and I have 35% right beside the windshield so I see firsthand, every day and night, the difference between 35% and 100%, I also have a superpower, called common sense™, which is what I base my opinion on, other than facts and existing laws that have been put into place for clear reasons.

Believe me my vision is far from perfect. And I'm not "claiming" its perfect, I'm just saying I personally can see fine with it at night/rain/etc etc. I can understand what you mean by irresponsible towards other drivers to an extent. I don't doubt your courtesy towards others on the road, but it's not hard to envision a situation where a bad driver is about to pull in front of you, and the only thing that can prevent an accident from occurring is his ability to notice that you are not looking at him, because as a good driver, you are minding your surroundings, and at that moment, you're watching another car... and hopefully, with a bit of sense of self preservation, he will wait for you to pass by before he proceeds. Basically, my point is that other people around you will make mistakes, and letting them see you might be the difference between them slamming on the brakes and avoiding a collision by inches, and a major accident... It wouldn't be your fault, but it still sucks when it happens. Trust me, this scenario isn't farfetched.

I have a hard enough time seeing out of my rear and side windows with the tint on them, I can't imagine having the windshield tinted too. It might be too dark and make it hard on driving.

Your windshield is angled, which does make a difference! and yes 35% on a windshield would be pretty damn dark! (hence the reason mine is 50%)

thank you for ending the arguement there... this is a situation when person should not be in such a rush.. they are obviously not driving in a safe manner if what they are doing/going to do could cause an accident.. tinted windshields!!

ok i heard not a person mention this but i was going to have it done for $100 bucks as well...

but i asked the tint guy is it just a regular tint ticket when i get one? he said it depends on the cop bought it could be an automatic impound and felony charge.


in cali i believe it beause if you run cat-less its a felony...

nice find! I might do that on my next ride.. im doing 50% ceramic on my next car so i can still see and get better heat reduction that what i got now!
