So Im planning on purchasing some coilovers for my b5 a4 FWD . I want to get c/o for just a daily driver, & i know i will never track my car. My price range is from $800-$1200. Im thinkin about these:

    -H&R
    -Stassis
    -Tein basic or SS

Please let me know what you guys think i should get and what the pros and cons are between all of them.

If you have coilovers on your b5 a4, post a picture and mod suspension, if you want.

    help a bro out thanks!

    Re: Coilovers....

Stasis is just a pre-set Koni coilovers to what they think is best, so thats why I just going with the Koni coilovers.

From what I've heard the Koni's are a very comfortable coilover, that will increase handling preformance while at the same time not becoming overly jarring.

GB going on right now for the Koni's btw......CLICK

    Re: Coilovers....

H&R ultra low (got 'em new.. cheap)

now ~6-7 threads from all the way up.. can still go down ~2" and it is right around the stance of H&R sports. no pics right now, sorry...

quick review: softer than i was expecting, but not bad, probably because the only other coilovers i've owned had linear springs (bumpy!). they feel good in the corners but i havent had a chance to really push it (track or autox).. very comfortable for a daily driver. i could slam the car, but i have it almost all the way up since it is my DD.

    Re: Coilovers....

There is a group buy curently going on for the Koni coilovers. $893+shipping.

H&R are supposed to be the best, but that is if you go with the PSS9. But those are pricey. Stasis is the same as the Koni's. There is a slight difference, I just don't know. And I read the Tein's are crap. If I were you, I would jump on that group buy for the Koni's and call it a day. Koni's have nothing but great reviews from users on this board.

    Re: Coilovers....

H&R have had plenty of problems with leaky dampers. They are nowhere near the best. The best would be Moton, Penske, Ohlins, Spax, or something of that caliber.

Stasis does preset the coilovers and it does make a difference. They tune them on a shock dyno which is something that can't be done at home. You can't tune them on the car so getting it just right could be a labor intensive process.

Tein has products of varying levels. From basic lowering springs and inexpensive entry level coilovers to full on race product. Crap doesn't win race, time attacks, or togue but Tein has.

I ran KW V1 and while the ride felt firm and sporty at first they were harsh and rattled the hell out of the car after a few months.

    Re: Coilovers....

I found a good deal on the TEIN SS...

    High performance and cost effective.
16 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together).
    Ride height adjustable.
New paint coating for rust prevention.
Pillow ball mounts are optional (on certain applications).
Exclusive design for USA vehicle specifications (only available for the U.S.A Market).
    Available for overhaul.
    High performance and cost effective.
Sport handling and driving comfort combined.
TEIN has developed advanced technology to design the shell case and stroke to bring out the full potential of your vehicle. The features of the TEIN Super Street Damper were designed with greater performance to satisfy all your driving demands. This high performance damper can be used for weekend racing and/or daily driving. The discomfort caused by uneven roads or bumps are eliminated on daily street use. For race use, the ride height adjustable system enables you to adjust ride height and 16 levels of damping force. In other words, you can set your vehicle to meet all situations!

    What do you guys think?

quite a bit of misinformation. onemore mile cleared up most of it and the above poster is correct pss9 is a bilstein setup.

i had HandR coilovers and the shocks did end up leaking.

also, stasis koni based street sports are preset AND custom valved.

They are not custom valved, but they are preset. It is a common misconception that they are custom valved.

look at me adding adding to the misinformation...

yeah, they are not custom valved, but set to specs based on dyno info.
