RS6 18" rep wheels on C5 A6 Avant. Offset?

I'd like to put RS6 replica wheels on my 2003 A6 Avant 3.0. I would run 235/40/18's on them. I would also like to lower slightly (about 1.2" to 1.5").

I notice some are 18"x8" and others are 18"x8.5", what offset range should I be looking for in each width?

Will spacers be needed?

OK. Looking around I've seen the RS6 5 spoke wheel in 18"x8" in +45 which I figure won't work. I also have seen the 18"x 8" with +30 offset.

As for 18"x8.5", I've found them in +30 and +35.

Any thoughts?

Will I still need spacers?

You need a 35 offset. 30 will kick the wheels out to the edge of the fenders more.

40 offset would sink the wheels in more and then you could use spacers to bring them back out.

I saw an A6 C5 Avant on ebay at the bottom of the page here. It had the RS6 5 spokes in 18"x8.5" and lowered with H&R springs. I wrote to him and told me that he had the H&R Racing springs and couldn't remember if they were +30 or +35 ofset. He says he is running with 245/40/18's with no rubbing but recommended 235/40/18's.

I don't know how to post pics here yet, but if someone wants to see or post a picture of that car the ebay number is 330243494050 and it ends Friday June 20.

I like the look. I might have to stay a little higher though. More like the H&R street performance springs.
