My windshield wiper came off while i was driving in the rain and the wiper arm scratched the windshield. Any suggestion on what i can use to polish out the scratch?

I use a Compound/Polish and a Rotary to remove scratches.

Yes, a rotary is required in this case. Also would suggest 1Z Glas Polish.

    Re: Scratched windshield?

Unfortunately, that's correct. Temporarily discontinued for now due to the Euro. Although there is still some out there at places like www.detailersdomain.com, www.properautocare.com, and www.autogeek.net.

Would this work for the sandblasting my winshield received from the trucks on the freeway?

    Re: Scratched windshield?

Glas Polish in combination with a rotary and a cutting pad or a wool pad can reduce very fine scratches and the speckles/pitting caused by trucks.

1200-1700 RPMs is the typical application range.

Using a Porter Cable will not be enough to reduce these types of issues.

    Hope this helps!

    Re: Scratched windshield?

    ^^^ Mike

I always hesitated on doing this due to glass warping to hot temperatures. Do you work the glass the same way you work any clear coat panel?

    Thanks

    Re: Scratched windshield?

Yes, apply using the same method. I have not heard of glass warping as an issue.

A good wool pad to try out is the Lake Country purple foamed wool pad or their light wool pad:
