Allroad suspension stuck in manual mode

I recently purchased an 01 allroad. The orange LED on the suspension display is always lit, according to the manual this is manual mode. I can't get it to toggle to auto mode. The suspension seems to work fine otherwise. The car has 2 new bags, doesn't leak down, no codes, and the compressor works. Any ideas?

Try putting it in jack mode and then take it out of jack mode

Are you sure it is stuck in manual mode? In my 2005 allroad, I keep it at setting 1 and the light on setting one is always lit. I don't think that means manual mode, it just means the level that you have selected that the car will level out to when driving at lower speeds.
