I need some Central Georgia help!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just got done washing my car for the first time in... well it's been over a month. And to my utter disgust I find that a tree next to my parking space at my unit is dropping tar or sap onto my car.

So I have all these small brown/black marks in my paint. A good wash job doesn't remove them. I'm sure a clay bar does (slight pressure of the finger nail does). Only problem is I don't have a clay bar or even clay bar skills.

Really, my car needs a real good once over from an experienced and reputable detailer. Wash, clay bar, wax and buff.

Having said all of that, who do you guys recommend? I'm in Columbus and will go 150 miles in any direction to get quality work.

Also, I bought a set of 19x8.5 Volks from Stasis. They are silver and I'd like to get them powder coated matte black. Does anyone in the Atlanta area specialize in powder coating rims?

    Thanks

Claybar is honestly REALLY easy. Go buy the meguiars kit, it's about 20 bucks. If ya want more then I don't know really. I'm in auburn Alabama and if you wanted to come down this weekend I used to detail cars and still do some in my spare time, depending on how thorough of a wash/wax/cleanercoat/buffer you were looking to do I could let ya know what I'd do it for, and I'll teach ya how to use some of the products if you're not really sure. I use a Meguiars orbital buffer and they really get some AMAZING results.

Here are some pics of a black 993 I detailed back in nashville earlier this summer:
    http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/k...etailed%20993/

and as always, pictures rarely do justice. with me and my friend it was about a 5 hour job on the targa, but obviously black is always the worst.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help ya out. There are a couple of forums that I really learned a lot through and if you want to go the route of an orbital buffer I'll let ya know where to go to get everything for that.

    Best of luck

^^^ I have seen lots of Bryan's (gmblack3) work over on Autopia and have to say that he is one of the best detailers in the US.

The best thing is that he'll even come to you!

I'm over in Macon and I'm in desperate need of a claying. I too would love how to learn how to do it myself. Maybe the three of us could meet in Columbus and mbgt72 could show us how to clay??

I still need to get my car detailed. Work keeps getting in the way.

Good news though, this is a four day weekend (4-7 JUL).

Work in small squares. May 2x2 feet. Keep it wet. Fold the clay bar often (or use the liquid clay from chemical guys). Seal after claying is complete.

Yeah, shortly after posting the original question, I got a "no notice" deployment thrown at me (I'm stateside now). Comes with the job...

I still would like to have my car detailed and learn some skills.

gmblack3, do you let your clients work with you and learn? What is your schedule like?

I don't mind at all if the clients want to hang out and learn how to better take care of their cars. I'll reply to your email.

    Thanks,

Chemicalguys.com has an absolutely great Liquid Clay product you should try.

    Liquid Clayblock

It is not "light" and these guys have a range of products you can use in addition to instructional materials. GREAT stuff.

No-notice eh? Be careful, and check in periodically.
