    Clutch

Ok first of all, I feel like the friction point of my clutch is high; it might be because of different shoes, but for some reason it does feel higher than normal.

This happens like once every 150 times:

I'm stopped and in first (engine is warm), and I start bringing the clutch out and accelerating (normal routine) but the clutch is all the way out and the RPMs are climbing but I'm going nowhere; sort of like a new driver reving it real high and bringing the clutch out slowly. Obviously it's slipping right?

(Also, I don't know if this is just in my head or what, but it seems like when this happens the clutch feels softer (less resistance), and gets stuck at around the g spot.)

So as soon as I realize that, I switch into 2nd, and it does it again, then 3rd - and mind you, I'm going like 10 MPH - it seems fine. From that point on it drives without the slipping (but maybe, like I stated above, friction point is high).

Cliffnotes: With the engine warm, in first the clutch slips, same with in second, but then after I switch into third, it feels fine from then on - even first and second.

I do have check engine light on (if you read my other post) and I am taking it to the Audi asap.

What do you think is wrong? Or is it all in between my ears.

    Re: Clutch

sounds like your clutch is slipping or the pressure plate is weakining. either that or you should get some used shoes

Assuming the hydraulic system is working properly, CLutch slipping = wasted clutch, plain and simple. It's on it's last legs. Bring it in for a change before it leaves you stranded.

    Re: Clutch

Thanks, how much does a new clutch run for for these cars?

And another thing I realized, I was in 2nd gear accelerating slowly (parking lot), and at around 2k or 3k RPMs, it stops for a slight second as if I took my foot off the accelerator and then engaged again. Anything wrong here? I do have Check Engine light on, but I don't think I damaged anything as the car is runnign fine besides these 2 problems (one being the clutch, other being ???)

    Thanks again guys.
