Can someone tell me if the Audi Avant can run on ethenol?
There is one gas station near my house that sells ethenol, and it is about a dollar cheaper than gasoline.
I would appreciate any help or ideas.

I am not aware of any audis that run ethanol in the us. you shouldn't use anything with more than 10% ethanol.

it's been done. this requires a conversion of the fuel system and a custom tune. Search "E85", etc under the user name "DenverNoob"

of course you cannot do this just by filling up your tank.

and keep in mind Ethanol burns faster than regular gasoline so savings are not as black and white as they may seem.

its not meant for savings its meant to emit less pollution , man people don't get it. It will also make a huge difference in performance as it burns at like 119 octane, thus why all indy cars are using this now.

Re: My Avant can run on Ethenol?

Ethanol is literally less bang for the buck. And it doesn't emit less pollution, it just is a way to use new energy instead of old buried energy. It also takes more energy to produce. Its simply not the best solution. Bio Diesel is a better option. Use less in general is the only real solution right now.

Re: My Avant can run on Ethenol?

    ok, seriously. don't.

    1. it's bad for the environment.
it may *burn* cleaner, but it's way more harmful to manufacture and produce into a fuel than petroleum products. link

    2. it's bad for the world economy.
it uses corn. food. when we have trouble enough feeding all the people in the world. and people want to use it to power their cars?! so less food available to eat raises price. see a basic microeconomics text book. price of food goes up --> everyone suffers.

3 (and most importantly). it's bad for your car.
yes, those indy cars are using it, but do you really think you at the pump are getting the same blend they are? i think not. ethanol corrodes aluminum and iron, two main materials our engines are made of.

so, enjoy killing the earth, killing our food supplies, and killing your car.

You don't read so good. OP is apparently considering the cost savings of ethanol (as quoted above) i was merely outlining the fact that this idea is negated by the fact that it burns faster than gasoline.
