Possible scam...need some advice

Not sure how I should handle this.....has anyone ever done business with this guy? Someone know him? I originally felt bad but now that contact has ended im not sure what to think.....he hasnt answered emails, posts, or Pm's in the past couple of days.....been burned once dont want to be burned again

It sounds like you shot yourself in the foot on that one.

You disputed the transaction. Then you cancelled the dispute.

I'm sure that he's pissed at you for that so honestly, he won't send you the lights now.

It was kind of dumb of him to accept payment from two parties for one item but, I'm guessing that he's not really good at selling things.

Eitherway, if you really wanted them and had given him more than 24hrs to ship them, you'd have gotten them.

In the end, you saved yourself $200 on a night time tree illumination system.

Well it seemed and still does like i was getting F*cked....two people had paid and he wasnt responding to anything....last time this happened I couldnt get my full refund from paypal because I took too long.......all i wanted was a little communication

yes, but then i resent payment because he said he was about to send it....WTF man....i felt bad that i jumped the gun ...but when i saw he had two payments i felt i was being scammed.....

i have a money order in the mail. he said he will be sending it to me so i dont know. not sure why he would take payment from you when i told em i was going to be sending the funds out. i was a bit skeptical at first since i normally use paypal. oh well guess ill see what happens

and honestly that’s fine if he is going to sell them to you....but then all I ask is that he refunds me my money I sent via PayPal then...that’s all he has to do and I would be over it.....but he is trying to say that he doesn’t have the money because I had a dispute of it.....but when I cancelled the dispute he had the money again....so now all I ask is he refunds it....I guess this guy doesnt understand how paypal works....just refund my money...thats all I ask!!!

yea, I just don’t think he understands that since he did a withdrawal it would show his account at a negative since they put a freeze on the money....and since I dropped it shows nothing because its back in process of being deposited......I have tried to get him to call me so I can explain but nothing so far....he thinks im trying to scam him....I just want my money back

Did you pay out of account, or by credit card?

If by CC, dispute with your CC company. They're more than happy to help you against fraud.

If it's out of your bank account or Paypal funds, good luck.

I had a dispute recently about some stuff I bought on Ebay, supposedly authentic, but not. Paypal put it on me to provide legal documentation from the manufacturer that what I received was fake. I sent photos, emails between the seller and myself proving the seller was fraudulent, and still nothing. I called the manufacturer, and they verified that they didn't produce what the seller sent me, and Paypal gave me....zippo....

Paypal is great if you know for a fact you won't get ripped off...but once you get taken, it's almost impossible to trust them again. Such a hassle to resolve disputes, yet they're quick to take their cut.

I thought when Ebay bought them, they would improve security processes. I thought wrong.

Unfortunatly it was an instant transfer......I am just hoping he notices he did get the money and doesnt try to screw me....I already notified Anthony and he said for me to keep him updated....

Agreed. They give NO security as far as I am concerned. You have to be VERY careful when using them.

Yea, well........looks like i am finding this out the hard way.....there arent to many options though....thats ok...i have contacted two friends who are lawyers and if i dont hear something back from him this week they are going to draft a letter and take action....they can prove he received the money with paypal....then it becomes fraud since the threads cover everything.

What sucks is that it doesn't pay you back for the emotional stress from being ripped off. And for the time it takes to recover your payment. You do all the legwork in good faith, and they just have to say, "Sorry, can't help you with that." And it's done. Nothing gained from your efforts.

But since there is no real rival to them, can't help but to use them until something better comes along.

Yeah, very stressful. I was taken for $50 for a ECU for my old Talon of a local DSM site a few years ago. Losing the $50 pissed me off on principal, not cause of the amount. The worst was that it took me a while to find another ECU and the car was sitting at my mechanics waiting on the part. I am more careful usually when using paypal now, but still always feel on edge until the item arrives.

Merle, sorry for getting back to you a little late. I just checked my account and the balance was restored. I will ship them out tomorrow and email you a tracking number. If I can get home in time today after work(L.A. traffic) I can grab the box and ship it out tonight otherwise I will take it to Fedex tomorrow.
