Couple RS4-rep q's (pertaining to my particular application).

I was checking out purems.com's selection of RS4 wheels, and I want to get some opinions before I purchase this week.

I have the 18x8 Avus wheels, I'll have to recheck my tiresize, but the cost difference between 18" and 19" tires is pretty big. Not to mention, I could reuse my nearly new tires off the avus wheels. My mustang also shares a similar wheels size as the 18" RS4 reps (18x8.5 Fr and rear).

So I'm thinking 18" as an option for my daily driver (the mustang's the exotic/toy one, right now its wearing Nitto NT01's as rear tires).

    So my questions:
I *may* upgrade the front brakes (and a more aggressive pad out back to match bias), are the 18x8.5 replica wheels friendly to most options out there for BBK's (like the porsche ECS offering?)

also, should I be considering spacers? I think I have a stock suspension, I've yet to put this car on a lift and verify (it appears to have been mildly modified). I'm not sure what troubles come into play with rubbing and caliper fitment that make a spacer a worthy purchase (also, do you have to find longer wheel bolts?)

Finally: My car is silver... Not sure what the color's called, but the standard Audi Silver (not Gray), what finish looks best on it? I can't tell if Gunmetal is darker than hypersilver, or if hypersilver is the way to go. The black seems like it would be a bit much.

My goal for the car is to make it look more aggressive, but stay in an overall "from the factory" appearance. Nothing overstated, as this is the daily driver, but it just looks too plain with the B6S4 snout and the Avus wheels (many people like them, just not me).

If that's one of your goals, then don't pass "Go" and don't mess around w/18s...
Go directly to 19s and a CO drop.
And since yer in AZ and have concerns about BBK clearance, then 19s is def. the answer.

    Captain Distraction, welcome to Audizine.

    1. do 19's.
    2. look at VMR's new P40 copy. It's a great looking wheel and you'll be one of the first to have it.
    3. Don't worry about ugrading the brakes on your daily driver, these brakes stop well enough. A nice caliper paint job and some S4 clips should do the job just fine for the time being. Use the extra money for some 19" PS2 tires.
    4. IMO, a darker color wheel against the Avus Silver would look great and don't do spacers.

Now post a few pics of your ride.

Well, now I'm back on being split. 19's obviously provide a nicer look, but they're $900 more in investment (cost difference of wheels, and then 4 decent tires). I'll have to work that one out, maybe if I'm able to resell my avus wheels to offset the cost.

Does anyone have pictures of the various sizes and finishes on avants/silver cars?

Think I posted them before, but again for good measure:

The 19s look good if you lower your car, but with the stock sport suspension, I think the 18s balance the aesthetic of the B7 better.

well, for comparison's sake, does anyone have pics of a car with 18's on it?

I love that silver avant w/ 19's. That might have me sold, despite the extra investment.

    well, captain...

I think just about everyone on here will tell you that 19s are the way to go. Should I play the devil's advocate for 18s? Sure, why not!

Here are the advantages of going 18:

    1) No NEED to drop the car, it's more of a WANT.

    2) Bigger selection of tires in the 18 inch size.

    3) Performance wise, 18 is better.

    4) Thicker sidewall will help against nasty roads.

    5) 18s look hot!

go for the 19s....i personally like the car at stock height with the 19s, it looks very aggressive with a good stance (with an 8.5 width). if you search these forums and vwvortex, i bet you could find wheels and tires like i did. i paid $900 (shipped) and change for the wheels brand new from an AZ member, and the tires were $700 (BF goodrich KDW2's 235/35/19) brand new from another AZ member who didn't need them anymore. i bought my centrecaps from ebay for $30 shipped. although they are not shown in the picture, they really complete the look

channad, your car looks hawt...i love sprint blue

one last bump before I secure the purchase. Hell, now I'm even stuck on color. The gunmetal looks great though.

Is the finish really glossy on the VMR reps?

Yes, all of our finishes are clear coated. Only the matte black finish is not clear coated. But that finish is only offered for BMW's.
