    There's a click, a whine, and a shake...help (long)

So I've got a few separate (possibly unrelated) issues with my S4. I've never really diagnosed suspension/driveline issues so I need your guys' help.

Background: Supposedly all of the control arms were replaced like 10k mi ago. When I bled the brake fluid like 2k mi ago I checked the control arms/tie rod ends by trying to wiggle them by hand and trying to wiggle the tire for play. The boots on the tie-rod ends on both sides of the front looked like they may be a little squished/misplaced, but they may be completely fine cause I don't know what they're supposed to look like. Otherwise all seemed fine, but I've never done it before so maybe I don't know exactly what to look for. My wheels were balanced like 2k mi ago, but I'm going to get them done again just to be sure. I've got H&R coilovers that have a couple 10's of thousands of miles on them.

    1. I've got a light clicking from my front right that is only heard when I take off from a stop til like 15 MPH, and even then I can only hear it about half of the takeoffs. Speeds up with wheel speed, but it doesn't necessarily get worse when I turn. When I looked at the CV boots like 1k mi ago they were fine. What are my possibilities?

    2. There's a slight clunk from the front right when going over some bumps/driveway entrances. Possibly related to #1

    3. After I've been driving for a little while (time for whatever it is to heat up), then come to a stop at a drive through or something, when I go to take off again there's a constant whine/squeal from the front left until like 10 MPH. It's not loud or anything, but it's there. I've got track pads that on that squeal when I stop, but they shouldn't be heard at all when taking off, right? Sound like a wheel bearing?

More background on the front left: I replaced the front left half-shaft like 1k ago and a couple hundred miles after that the axle actually came loose from the transfer case. When it did it tore the gasket between them, so I cleaned out the grease that could be contaminated (about half or so) and reattached it. I didn't repack it because I didn't want the excess grease to come out because of the missing gasket and I was just trying to avoid needing a tow. I didn't plan on driving it other than straight home until I got the gasket and repacked it, but my other car broke down so I drove it on a couple occasions. Could this squeal be coming from the inner CV joint from driving on it without enough grease (or would that rather make a clicking sound)?

    4. I've got a couple different shakes, but it's weird because sometimes there's none at all and it's real smooth, and others there's all of them. The shakes are what bother me the most out of all this.
4.1 One of the shakes are most noticeable during the first couple minutes of a drive and increase with wheel speed. It goes away after a little and in retrospect I think it might happen most when the car has been sitting for a day or longer. This leads me to believe that it might be tire flatspotting. I've never had tires flatspot before, so I don't know what it's like.
4.2 Other shake is most noticeable at 30-40MPH but felt all the way up to freeway speed. The oscillation isn't RPM dependent, but some days it goes away with acceleration. Other days it's not even there. My wheels were balanced not long ago and I'm getting them done again. The car doesn't track funny or anything, but could it possibly be the alignment? Could it be the driveshaft or something like that (hope not!)? What are my possibilities here and how do I check?!

Sorry this was so long, but I really do appreciate any and all input on this. Thanks guys!

wow number 1 and 2 sounds exactly the same as the problems i am having. also getting some weird popping and grinding noises at takeoffs AND getting a loud clunk SOMETIMES going over bumps and dips. i posted about the problem here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215303

im taking my car to a shop next week to have the suspension checked, let me know if you can figure out these problems.

His problem sounds like control arms, not mine (except for maybe the clunk), right?

    I need some help!
