    Subframe bushings ripped in half?

havent posted in forever, been super busy with so much shit. anyway, got my car running, with a lot of weight reduction (marc jr. in the house) and some extra goodies.

i went to race a gsxr bike with amc in my car, and i downshifted to 4th and he stepped on it...as soon as my car spooled and i went to pull on him...my shit overboosted and popped an IC pipe (wasnt clamped enough, JUST got it running)...so i unplug the maf and drive home. i heard a funny noise.

long story short, that funny noise. it was my rear subframe hanging, both rear mounts completely ripped in half. also, because of the angle the driveshaft was on, it tore up my carrier bushing/mount. sooooooo im trying to find a place that sells subframe bushings besides the dealer, which im calling tomorrow to order anyway. or is there a stiffer aftermarket solution?

at any rate, my car is RIDICULOUS stupid fast and i cant wait to get up some videos. im sure AMC will post here to testify how stupid it is. after 2 months of it sitting on a lift and waiting for parts/money. i am more than satisfied.

PureMS sells stiffer rear subframe bushings. Pretty sure they are what you are looking for.

cool thanks for the link, they look lik ethe would not be a bad thing to fit, just drop the rear of teh sub frame first and them do the front and hope you don't mess up the aliment of it after, kinda like installing the DTS in teh rear, who is running them wonder how the car feels.

Re: Subframe bushings ripped in half?

newer alignment racks like a jim beam has a function to align subframes. though you may need to swing the assembly left or right to control the power(muscle cars do it all the time) if you can beat a gsxr then ur gonna probably have to do that.

if theyre anything like the front subframe bushings, the holes are ovals so id install the bushing bolt holes facing front to back and pull the subframe as far back as possible for better stability at speed.

also look into getting solid bushings for the subframe, the only reason theyre rubber is for confort but your diff is probably twisting so hard(with the poly bushigns you probably installed) that the subframe is taking up the slack.
