Installed water/meth... Thoughts (long w/pics)

so this week i went to install water/meth and switch software from apr 93 to apr 100 octane programming.
i must say i love it, i highly recommend it to anyone whos looking for a little more. the car feels much smoother throughtout all of the RPM range and definantly alot more powerful. now i must say i believe that most of this is because if the apr 100, but the water meth allows for this so its all one big package. also, we did several logs on vag com during the dyno runs. everything apprears to be perfect, only time little problem is a slight timing pull in cyl #2 (not nearly enough to cause concern), but everything else was in order.

Overall gains
first run: 93 octane, no water meth, listed mods
238 horsepower
292 ft/lbs
Intake temps: 39 C

Second run: same as first
242 horsepower
298 ft/lbs
Intake temps: 43 C

third run: 100 octane with water meth
249.9 horsepower
320 ft/lbs
intake temps: 37 C

*note: with water meth u can expect around 37-39 C intake temps while without would be around 60 C (mine were low because car was cold on first pull)

I'm still trying to understand the water/meth thing. Does the system mist with throttle input(all the time) or is like a nitrous system?

It sprays in a pattern, and is activated after a predetermined amount of boost.

On his is somewhere in between 13 and 15 psi.

Is there a reason you went for a rear tank instead of using the washer bottle which also gives you the low level warning in the dash?

how was the tube ran from the trunk to the engine? I have a system and fat 0gauge already ran in the door sill..so I dont know if I can fit anything else under there.. did you ran it differently?

Wouldn't you be then squirting "boost juice" or whatever its called on your windows? I'd think a seperate tank is a better option.

okay lemme clear some things up... the system it self runs about $329. figure about 6 hours of labor. the reason i chose the rear tank instead of the washer fluid mount is because i wanted to stay away from tapping into any oem parts. incase i ever have to remove to sell the car, it would look completely flush as if nothing was ever tampered with (except the throttle body lol). as far as install goes, i did not install it but i was there watching my buddy spike at wolf do it. he basically ran the lines under the car. thru the wheel well. yeah hope that clears up most people

a full tank last about a tank of gas for me (I drive really hard) and its triggered @ 14 psi for me

Duh! This isn't really my area of expertise as I don't like two tanks or having to refill something other than gas in order to maintain my power... I'm sure some of ya'll can relate to that. It really is a clean install and I should have remembered the wiper fluid deal from my evo forum lurking days.

Unless you're pulling CF with 93 program it will only lower IAT and make A/F rich. The whole point behind meth is that you can increase timing/boost to make more power and keep IAT low.

FYI... if you use the meth+water in your washer fluid bin and when you need it thrown onto your windows, it drips down to the ventilation system and if you don't have the inner circulation button pressed, you will be breathing in the methanol from the vents which is not good for you. Standard washer fluids no longer consists of methanol and contains more ethylene glycol, ethanol, water, and PAV. (thanks wikipedia) Rain-X Ice-X still uses pure methanol. But the standard blue is not methanol... Rain-X premium windshield washer fluid is <6% methanol, 90-95% water.

"Boost Juice" is 49% Meth 51% water.

I use 50/50 heet/distilled since I don't want to deal with the dye but have used RainX deicer+heet and blue+heet and yes you can buy blue with meth read the bottle that say "contains methanol" and good to -20F. The washer fluids are up to 40% meth and 58% water to which you add HEET that is ~99% meth.

no it does not deactivate. u have to keep an eye on it because it u run dry it will suck air thru the lines and thats bad. and as for me if im on 100 programming and i run dry on water, im not really sure but the reslts could be ugly

if you are semi knowledgeable about diy projects this should be fairly easy, but there was a guy on af that did it and screwed his motor up

I'd like to see what this nozzle looks like? He said the screen on the nozzle came off becuse he installed it upside down? Huh? I don't see how something your supposed to install in the intake stream can come off that easily. Sounds like a cheap part that fail on the kit. Does anyone have a pic of what this nozzle looks like?
