Having trouble deciding over an APR or Milltek sport exhaust for my B6. Which one runs quieter? I'm not into loud exhausts.

    Re: Milltek vs APR Exhaust

APR exhaust breaks often. The welds are garbage, do a search and you'll see some of the pics and people bitching about it. I would avoid the APR exhaust, if you want quiet you could also do the techtonics exhaust.

    Re: Milltek vs APR Exhaust

Milltek is probably your best bet. APR is a tad louder than Milltek, but not by much. I wouldn't worry too much about APR cracking at the welds. AFAIK, APR has taken a good care of everyone on here who had problems with their APR exhausts.

glad to hear APR has taken care of those people....it seems like APR has made some pretty shitty parts lately...exhaust, DV, snub mounts...

I've had both and the Milltek is definitely nicer. They have both res and non-res, opt for the non-res if you want stealth.

I currently have the APR Stealth and it is not exactly that stealthy.

so you're saying that it doesn't matter if the welds break because APR will fix them for you? you must not mind mailing an exhaust back for repairs, or having down-time while your car is in the shop.

APR makes a bunch of junk IMO, stay far away from them. That's my .02 cents though, to each his own.

    Re: Milltek vs APR Exhaust

Milltek took their time is desidning it. I spoke with Milltek owner few years ago. He told that they build many prototypes before finding perfect muffler size, muffler packing, etc.
Their goal is to make system that flows better and provides cabin comfort.
I think other companies just take some tubing, bend it to fit and slap some generic mufflers.

If you really like the sound of APR, I don't see why you would mind that. Yeah, to each his own. Furthermore, not every APR exhaust suffers from that welding defect despite the fact that it's a common problem among them. I always keep the original boxes that come with new parts, so I never have a tough time finding a big box to ship an exhaust when necessary. I still have my stock exhaust sitting in my storage just in case if my Milltek has to be sent away for repair.

I think APR is little bit noisey than Milltek. Well sat in one and I just dont like it because it drones. Anyways I have Milltek and its a good system and not noisy.

Thanks for all the help. I think I'm going to stick to Milltek. I would buy a new one but I don't have that much cash to spend. Does anyone have a used Milltek exhaust for sale?

Just the opposite - non-resonated is like a straight pipe, no baffling or restriction, much louder.

The resonated one has the baffling in the resonator, makes it much quieter.

If you want quiet, make sure it is resonated.

I bought a full APR exhaust for my B7 S4 and a cat bank threw codes. It took a lot of emails and calls from me and a mechanic to fulfill the warranty. They kept saying it was GIAC software causing the issue. WTF. When APR finally caved, they sent the wrong cat after they asked me to take pictures and send plate numbers to them! It took over a month, 1 email and 2 phone calls to get my core charge credited for the wrong replacement they sent me. Do not go with APR!!! There is no service after the sale.

BTW- those are Billy Boat exhausts that APR sells- at least mine was. I do love the exhaust now that I went straight through BB to finally fix the bad cat. No problem. I would buy through Billy Boat.

I've been super happy with my Borla system. It's got a nice harmonic sound and isn't obnoxious at all... it would probably be even more subtle but I have a hfc, so she might purr a little louder than others. I have two kids and they sleep great in the back seat, so it's obviously not too loud.

Techtnoics sounds great on everything, but the sound comes more from the muffler. They offer magnaflow and Borla. I'm running Techtonics / Borla on my VR6 Corrado. :) Shexy.

As for my 1.8t, I'm running Neuspeed and it's fairly tame except it can get pretty aggressive under load. I've always felt that Miltek was arguably the most quiet with great quality. So if you want quiet, go with Miltek.

    I love this logic.

I remember the guy behind the counter at Autozone once telling me that my Mustang would not run if I put Bosch plugs because the car was American and the plugs were German. I thanked him for the info, purchased my Bosch plugs and left.
