    soft brake pedal

My problem started when replacing the front pads and rotors, I forgot to take the reservior cap off when I pushed the pistons back. The brake pedal was solid and at the correct height with engine off, with my foot on the pedal and starting the engine the pedal went almost all the way to the floor. I tried bleeding the brakes but no improvement. So I replaced the master cylinder now I have a soft low pedal with the engine off it can be pumped up[ like theres air in the system] and the pedal still goes almost to the floor when the engine is started. I've bleed the system and still no improvement I used the two man system with my wife on the pedal I'm on the bleeder screw. Don't have a clue to whats going on with these brakes. Its a 1999.5 a 4 quattro with 1.8 turbo no esp.

I have much better results using a power bleeder than the "wifey, please push the pedal" system. Plus I don't get the attitude! You can pick up a decent Motive Power bleeder (or similar) for under $50. And an added advantage is that you can do it all by yourself.

    Good luck!

You sound like you've experienced working with your wife ande all of the helpfull sugestions/questions they always have, Iam not usually in the mood for when things are not going well for me. You seem to think that its air in the system still. I'm taking a trip to a friends garage and have him power bleed the system tomorow.

The power bleeder does do a better job with getting air out of the system. You can run a steady stream until it looks clear. Much harder to do one push at a time. (Plus it makes the wife much happier.)

    Good luck!
