Am I F'ed?

Somebody please tell me what is going on. Well first off it started when the car wouldn't start. I cranked it...nothing. Did it again and after after about 5 or 6 seconds it finally started. Then I saw that the damn EPC light was on. WTF is EPC!? Then I was driving and it didnt feel like the clutch was grabbing as strong as it usually does. Also, as i was pressing in the clutch it wouldn't feel very smooth, kinda grainy (this might be in my head so dis-regard it if this has nothing to do with anything.) Then as I was accelerating hard-ish in 1st i'm pretty sure it popped out of 1st but im not sure because my hand was basically on it when it might have happened. Also when accelerating in one gear it would pull, but kinda hesitate at a bunch of points as the rpm's climbed. Then I smelled a strong burning odor which went away. I dont have a clue as to what's going on. Please help, please.

P.s. The car never dropped below 1200 rpm when idling even after I drove it for 10-15 min.

The manual said that the EPC light makes it go into failure mode and that I should have it checked out by an Audi dealership asap. The car sounds fine, and always ran perfectly before. There is one thing that might have for some reason screwed up something. I was pulling into my garage I stop with clutch in and it's in 1st gear. Then I forgot that it was in 1st and stepped off the clutch causing a very harsh stall.

tell us a bit about your setup, i used to get the EPC light from having my mbc configured incorrectly

sounds like your ECU is dying then, why dont you open up the case and see if theres any water inside or anything like that

I will try, is this normal for an '01 w/ 80k miles on it?

are you also saying you feel there is a hydraulic issue (aka the clutch)?

I would hook up a vagcom to it and at least find out what caused the EPC light to come on. The vag will tell you. Then move from there. Yeah, from the sounds of it sounds like a clutch issue or a slave cylinder.

Just took the car out for a spin. Started up immediately and drove smoothly. Unlike last time, the idling revs dropped within a minute or two of starting the car. I don't know, but I was reading a few threads on EPC and some people were describing exactly what is happening to me. Their EPC light would come on and they would have trouble starting the car. Then the next time they started it, everything was fine

. I am still kind of concerned, but I don't have a vagcom or nothing like that... I might take it to this German car specialist across the street. But this experience has made me want to sell my A4 more than before. I'm just waiting for what's next.
