Yeah, the M3 CSL gives up 2 cylinders and a significant chunk of horsepower to the RS4 and it wasn't really that much slower.

Along with a significant amount of less weight, interior space, Quattro, features, and comfort. Too bad your completely focused BMW just can't compete with an all around functional car which higher saftey ratings.

Hah, well if anyone complains about the RS4 starting too early in the first vid, the same can be said about the M3 in that one

I want to have a meet at a strip like that. Get all these cars together and have fun.

LOL, the M3 CSL is a completely focused TRACK car, not drag race car. That was a drag race, my friend and the e46 M3 barely lost. If they were taking some turns it would have been a completely different story. Turning is what the M3 CSL is all about How could you not give the e46 M3 any credit for being so overmatched power-wise and still keeping the drag race that close???

A better comparison is e92 M3, which is a more complete performer than the RS4 and is more of a match on the dragstrip if that is what you are interested in. Quattro is great in adverse weather conditions, but you can't beat the balance and feel of the RWD M3 on a dry track.

that last vid is pretty bad. RS4 didnt even catch up at all. maybe a bad driver. I know the CSL punched it before the RS4 but still.

It is really hard to say. Who knows what the driver was doing and what is underlying intentions are. Really don't know if the driver is unbiased or not.

TopGear seems to do a better job at discerning things. I know these are NOT the two same cars but... you can hope for a bit more non bias motivation. Especially when it comes to the "Stig":

...and while this may be a bit older, to me, there is a bit more weight added to what they are saying... not just filming.

    Re: RS4 vs M3 CSL

Actually Im sorry about my first remark because I didn't know an m3 CSL was any different than a regular e46 m3, which my s4 took... but anyways the CSL has 360bhp vs. 333bhp the regular m3 has.
