I makes a lot of noise when I drive. I actually didn't get to the back because I ran out of light so only the front has the Konis on. I put my 20's on too. When I took it for a drive it made a lot of clunking sounds in the front.

I don't know why it's doing this , someone please help me

It only rubs if I hit a really big dip in the road, I have to set them firmer. I know what rubbing sounds like, this is a clunking sound like something is loose

All speeds. I didn't go over 40 though, I was scared lol, my wheels cost way too much to get messed up by a bad coilover install

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

This seems to be a very common problem with suspension work. Most of the time the clunk comes from not tightening the nut down far enough on the top of the shock rod. Unfortunately you will have to take everything out again to get to it. Here is a tip that won't help you now but you can use in the future. It's what I did whenever I adjusted my Koni's. Before removing the nut from the shock rod be sure to measure the amount of threads above the nut. The torque spec is 60nm but as you know it is very difficult to keep the shaft from turning so it's hard to check. I used an air impact wrench with a deep well socket and tightened it down to the pre-measured depth and it was good to go. You can get an inexpensive air wrench for under $40 at Autozone.

    Good luck!

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

Thanks old guy, this is why we didn't want you to leave us lol. I know this is bass ackwards, but I did some seraching afterwards and found that out. I wanted to go lower so the suspensiuon was coming out today anyway when I put my new brakes on.

The question that I do have is the top nut that came with my Konis would not go all the way down, I knew there was still room, but I figured that was the design. The nut had a blue liner in it or something that would not let the top of the nut get past the thread. Is that right? Or should I just use the factory nut, I know I can get that all the way down. Oh and I have an electric impact gun, works great!

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

The blue liner is a nylon insert that helps keep the nut in place after you tighten it. It should give a little resistance when you tighten the nut as it deforms around the threads.

    Good luck!

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

Bah, mine (Stasis StreetSports) have been undone / redone 3 times now, and I still have clunking. They even added an extra washer because the mechanic saw that ell the threads seemed out and there was still some play. I still have some clunks. My bumpstops were cut 1 inch like the Stasis document says. I also hear rubber creaking sometimes that I didn't hear before the new parts. Changed some control arms because they were used up and I thought that was it: still no luck. Guess we have to live with some extra noise...

Hopefully I don't, or I will go back to my sport suspension. This is too much noise to deal with

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

I get a slight clunk at low speeds backing up and turning the wheel. I took it back to my mechanic and he checked it out and said that the problem was that the H&R Coils that I installed didn't seat the same as the factory springs therefore causing the clunk.

    It's a minor inconvenience, I don't like it, but that's life I guess.

My Stasis make no noise what so ever, if you do what Old Guy said with the top nut you should be straight, we used a pair of robo grip pliers and a rag to hold the rod as to not score it and the impact gun, worked like a charm, no clunk...

Well I know my mechanic did the tightening right. Now the first time though, but afterwards they found a good way to do it. Note that my suspension only clunks on the right side, the left seems perfect.

Old Guy FTW! Ive done about 15+ coilover installs... Including 3-4 sets of Konis. That top nut has to be TIGHT... I bought an impact gun just to do coilovers...

For everyone that has clunks... if its not a control arm its guaranteed that top nut

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

I think I totally got rid of the clunk on the right side, but I am hearing a very faint clunk on the left. I am doing my brakes later once my pads coe in, I am hoping it is just brake chatter.

^^^I live in south Jersey, near Philly. Why, you wanna come help me out ??? I still gotta do the rears lol.

Re: Installed my suspension & wheels today, but...

I think I was misleading by the way, I think my sound would be better described as a "thump", not a "clunk". It's closer to a rubbery sound than to a metal sound.
I am also due for a brake job in the front and I know some noise comes from my brake pads. Maybe I have two noises...
