Remote Lock "Beep" and Alarm on B5 S4

I've always thought that the "beep" that my car makes when locking is very quiet. It sounds like a muffled burp. Recently I accidentally triggered the panic alarm and it too was muffled and could hardly be considered an "alarm". I was wondering if the lock "beep" and alarm horn are the same device and if so, what's the prognosis for the "wimpy beep"? It's almost embarrassing it's so weak.

I can't say I know for sure, but I'm almost sure that it is the same horn. It is pretty pathetic, maybe it will scare a baby away. The only way it would a affect a burglar is if he laughed to death from the wimpy alarm. I almost laugh every time I hear it.

You can code the alarm to not beep when you set the alarm through vag-com. so you dont have to hear it.

Its in the back somewhere, I think under seat. You could check to get a bigger horn for the alarm?

^^ i thought about that, but why not just wire it in to the regular horns.. i guess those would be easy to snip though..

I disabled my 'bonk' horn with VAG-COM. It is the pussiest alarm I've ever heard.

I found it. It's in the trunk on the drivers side. Pretty unimpressive.

You can upgade to a louder horn. just go to any car audio/stereo store and choose a new horn (+/- $20) and the wiring that goes with it. My boy put a very loud chirping one in his S, I'll report back to exactly which brand it was.

Sounds like a queef. My B6 A4's beep is so much better and classier than the B5's. I'm looking to upgrade too, so let me know what you guys find
