The cost will be around $65 per car depending on how many cars we get. (Price will be lowered if we get more cars, I'm not looking to make any money)

Unless you are a hardcore tracker, 2 hours of non stop lapping is quite a bit. Keep in mind that we will only have a maximum of 15 cars, which means that's a LOT of track time for everyone to share. Plus they usually let us stay for an extra 30 mins. There's a reason why this is $65 and not $399. I would love to go back to Mosport with Apex, but some of us can't afford it.

Hello everyone,

The Nelson Track is booked at Shannonville on July 6th Sunday.

We will have it from 5:30PM - 7:30PM. (We usually get around 30 mins more after that) Just like last year, this will be a non-competitive lapping event. The no passing rule will be in effect. You are not allowed to pass any cars unless you are directed by the car infront of you and both of you are on the front straight. We will go over these rules before we head to the track.

We will meet up at Kennedy Commons parking lot right outside of the AMC theatre at 3:00PM.

For the first timers, this is a relatively forgiving track. So you will have a good time trying to push your car in a safe environment. We will set a cap at 15 cars, which means there will be plenty of space between cars to ensure safety. The track is wide open and set up in a way that even if you make a mistake and spin out, you are going to be on the grass. (You will need to do something really stupid to have any significant damage to your car. Aggressive drivers will be given a warning the first time, and asked to leave if problem persists) Helmets are not required.

The cost will be around $65 depending on how many cars we get. Passengers are free, so feel free to bring a friend!

Very interested in joining in. 2 hrs on a track would be great but should I be worried about tire and brake wear? I am still running stock wheels/brakes and new Pilot sports A/S on my A3.

I ran on that same track with my stock A3, and it was fine. Because we are not competing, do it at your own pace. If you feel your brakes are fading, cool it down for a few. We had 4 A3s last year, 3 with stock brakes. You will experience some fading if you go non-stop. As for tires, anything will be better than my original P6. So email me if you want in.

Send me an email to confirm please. (Unless you are John) There will not be any instructors. Not for $65 at least, but I'm sure there will be plenty of people who wouldn't mind sitting in your car and giving you pointers (Just like Golf, don't believe everything they say). We will also do a couple warmup laps. As I said before, this is a forgiving track, and we are pretty "softcore". So you are not going to see a Viper and 2 Z06 in your rear view mirror like I did in Mosport. Having said that, after this event, if you decide this is something you like to do, I would highly recommend going to one of those Apex or Ian Law training programs. They are pricey at around $400, but well worth the money.

We will see if cones are available to placed on apexes. But Shannoville is a very flat course, you will be able to see the entire course from the starting line. So it shouldn't be much of a problem finding the apex.

Hey folks,

The track day will be this coming Sunday. The price will be $65 per car, passengers are free. (I do not host these events to make a profit, money left over will be used for the next track day)

I have talked to Linda from Shannonville, and she told me the track will be open even before 5:30pm. So if we can get there early, we can get some free track time.

From Toronto: Hwy 401 east approx. 150km (90miles) east to Exit #556 - Shannonville Rd.
Proceed south on Shannonville Rd, which ends at Old Hwy #2.
Go east on Old Hwy #2, we are approx 7 kms from this point on the left hand side.

We usually exit at #557 to fill up gas at a near by Sunoco. Instead of going east on Old Hwy 2, you go West at Old Hwy 2.


Rules:

1) The "No passing rule" will be in effect. You are ONLY allowed to pass someone from the straight portion of the track, and ONLY if the driver infront of you indicates you can pass.

2) Aggressive drivers will be warned, if he/she continues to drive recklessly, we reserve the rights to ask he/she to leave this event. (This will be strickly reinforced due to the large amount of new drivers)

3) Passengers are free, but they are still required to sign a waiver.

4) Rain or shine, we are still going.

5) Helmets are not manditory.

Thanks to Elton for organizing a good time at Shannonville yesterday!

It was nice to see a few other first timers out there with me, I hope everyone else had a good experience like me - it was great to push the car a little and find out what it was capable of. When you think you are going too fast on the curves and just ready to spin out... quattro ends up saving the day! You'd have to think other cars would have gone and spun out already.
