question- does anyone know for certain that you have to remove the front bumper of an a4 sline in order to replace a xenon bulb? one dealer said that they had to remove it and another said that they didnt have to. id there any way a dealer could replace the bulb without the bumper removal? im short on time i just need to get my stories straight before i ask about it. thanks

it depends on the size of the hand and willingness to get scratched up. It is POSSIBLE to change bulb without removing bumper, but it's not that easy and won't be completely painless.

Why dont you try Ray, I bet you cant change it that way.

RedS-Line, I think it would be A LOT easier to just take off the bumper and do it.

Re: need to remove bumper to replace xenon bulb?

that works for both s-line and non s-line. I did that for my halogen non-sline. It works, but it was VERY painful, needing to push things aside while my arms get scratched up squeezing in there trying to fit the bulb.

Again, it can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone after I have given it a try.

Re: need to remove bumper to replace xenon bulb?

you don't have to totally remove to bumper to change the headlight. just whatever side your going to replace. pull out the fender lining and removed the 10mm nuts that hold the bumper on and then the torx screws on the top. then just pull the bumper out a bit and you can removed the headlamp and change the bulb. if you need more/better instructions let me know cause i'm a tech.
