    Extended Warranty

I will start by apologizing as I do not know if this is the correct forum to post this question buuut.....

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an extended warranty regarding a 2006 S4? I will be picking mine up in one week and would like to have the coverage.

I really don't know where to start or who to trust with this sort of purchase so if anyone has had a good (or bad) experience with a company please let me know.

I have had a quote for a 6yr/100K exclusionary warranty for around $3500. Sounds good, but what about the company? How can you tell if they really are legit and will pay when an issue arises?

Any info would be appreciated and sorry if this gets moved to the correct forum.

    Re: Extended Warranty

Very interesting you brought this up.

I just bought an extended warranty through the dealer I bought my car from on a 2004 S4 since my factory warranty just expired. I paid $2300 with tax for a basic Gold Package which has a $50 dollar deductible and $0 deductible at the dealer I bought the car from. It basically covers everything that may go wrong with the car and its covered until 2012 or 50,000 miles. (I have 11,400 on the car now).

The service manager recommended me (whose also a buddy of mine) and made sure that they didnt sell me a shitbox warranty that covers nothing. Not shabby I guess.

Huh, that's interesting......I have never heard of an extended Audi warranty only until 50k? Was there any warranty on your car prior to your purchasing this extended one?

Nope. The car was out of warranty a month. Since he projected that the year will come before my miles will, he gave me that price plan to save me some money since the miles were so low on the car to begin with.

    Re: Extended Warranty

I just bought an exclusionary warranty from an AW member called Bruce M. 4yrs/50K, $0 deduct, $3200. The warranty is through INDS, and Warranty Direct -- who is pretty well-respected -- is a subsidiary of theirs. Very good reviews of this company on AW.

    Re: Extended Warranty

You have a couple options. Guardian, Prizm (other aftermarket warranties) or through Audi. The price will depend on what engine/year and duration 2 year/3 year. I was looking into it also and the Audi dealership was cheaper than the other two. ALso if you get it though Audi you don't have to worry about what the warranty will cover. Some of the aftermarket warranties can be a hassle to work with as far as what they will cover and how much they will pay.

    Re: Extended Warranty

I got a another quote today from a local import dealer. My friend works there and he had me talk to one of the sales gals that deals with extended warranties.

Turns out she can get me a 6yr/100K warranty (exclusionary) for $2500 ($100 deductible).

Thanks for the input all. I am going to also contact my local Audi stealership for an additional quote or two. At this point though, I am comfortable with the above quote. I may go with Audi if the plan and price are the same - simply because it seems to make sense.

Does the warranty cover the DRC shock replacement, clutch problems, etc?

I dont think the clutch would be covered. Even the factory warranty will only cover it for so many miles. At least thats the way VW's warranty works.

    Re: Extended Warranty

Just contacted a local area Audi dealership. Quoted $5907 for 5yr/100K! Wow. Talk about pricey when comparing that to the two other quotes I have had so far. Does not appear to be the same coverage either - a year shorter but does cover all the same components (exclusionary). Wow.

.... and that IS with a $100 deductible.

I bought mine through Audi as well. One of the main things I was concerned about were the cam tensioners and this was because of the price to repair. When I spoke with my dealer, they told me this was only covered by the Platinum Package. Sounds like that could have been some balogna, but that may be something you want to double check.

That site wasn't very helpful. Mainly just links to advertisements with someone's ambiguous commentary mixed in. I was hoping to see some actual measurement / scoring of the various companies.

Ditto. I think the info is good, but obviously its a new site. They do have a forum though and it looks like it will just take time before there are any actual useful reviews....

    Re: Extended Warranty

I just puchased a 2004 S4 as well and got a very similar deal as DGS. I paid $3000 for a 5yr, or 100,000 mile warrantly. My car has 34,000 miles, but there was only 1 week of the factory warranty left due to the original purchase date. I cant remember the name of the company, but it is a diamond package that seems to cover everything except normal wear and tear.
