    Unhappy Programming 98 A4 B5 1.8T Key????

    Hey guys i just got this car and i have been trying to program the key fob but i just cant seem to do it. i tried the 2 key method with one in the ignition and all that good stuff like a hundred times and nothing so i tried the vag com and after it reads 00 the factory defaults when you go to read 01 or 21 i tried both it says not available. any help would be greatly appreciated. o and by the way i just replaced the battery and also tried a different key fob.

    yeah i tried that but after i hit read 00 it read that as the factory defaults but when i hit read 01 it said error unavailable and it said the same thing for 21

    tried that many times when i hit unlock i don't get a beep or a light flash or anything at all

    Are you sure you are doing it right? What you have to do is put a key in the ignition (not the one you are trying to program) and start the car. Then leave the car on , Get out and close the door. Take the key that you want programmed and put it in the door lock and lock it, Then let the key return to it's normal position in the door lock. Now with the key still in the lock hit the unlock button, Wait 5 seconds and then hit unlock again. If done right your doors should now unlock themselves. Turn your car off and you are done.

    BTW I also have a 98 and this worked just fine for me except the horn never beeped like the directions said they would, So even if the car does nothing just keep following the directions anyway. If it still doesn't work make sure you are actually waiting 5 seconds and not counting to fast.
