    help with window.

Okay, so my window acted up a long time ago, assumed it was the regulator. Well I have it pulled apart now, and the cable is torn up and binded ect.. I have a new cable/regulator. Also have the Green wheel that the cable wraps around. I am stuck though, How do I put the cable on that green wheel that the motor spins? it seams like how ever I try to put it on the cable is loose and ends up binding again when I try and move the window. How do I wrap the cable around that? Am I doing something completely wrong? I figured the new cable could just be simply wrapped around the green piece put back in to that spot and that was it.

    Is there a trick?

Why did you remove it? Did you get a new regulator? View my write-up in the DIY section... My image hoster went bye bye so no pics in it... I can e-mail some to you though if you want... As I said, there should have been no reason to remove that...

    Re: help with window.

The cable was tore up, I needed a new cable... and when I took my door apart, the black piece that surrounds this green one, the one the actual motor bolts up to, is in 2 pieces. Still works, just one piece is broke. So yeah I had to remove that to put the new cable on, RIGHT?.. haha I read your write up but it doesnt say anything about putting the cable back onto the green piece. All I know is I looked at my other back door and it was all setup up the same, except the cable was tight! I can't get the cable to be tight, amd I wrapping it around that green piece the wrong way? Like I said, is there a trick or something..

But if you got a new regulator, that should have been already installed... A regulator doesn't require you to route a cable...

well I honestly couldn't tell you, I didn't get a NEW regulator. More like pieces, i got the cable, the green piece, and the part that bolts up to the window where the 2 cables come into the same metal piece with the springs..

    Re: help with window.

Okay, looked at my pics and there is NO wheel that looks like that. There are only two green peices and they are the window guides and one cable guide... The cable guide isn't meant to spin either and it is more of a half moon shape... I think what you have there is from the A6's because there is no repariable/removable peices on the A4 like they have in the A6... Who did you get the from? Is this front or back? Looks like it may be the back regulator?

    Re: help with window.

Yes, it is the back regulator for the passenger side. And I know it is in there because I took the old one out with the messed up cable haha. I just get confused cause the cable wont get tight and when I try to move the window up or down with the switch the cable just gets even looser..idk.. I looked at the otherside and it is exactly the same setup.

Hmmm, sorry, haven't had to do a rear yet... But it almost looks like the cable has to wrap around it a couple of times? Are there three grooves in the pulley? As I said, haven't done a rear yet so I am unsure...

    Re: help with window.

yes, there are grooves on that green peice for it to wrap around. But the problem is, that when you go either down or up, one side wants to loosen and one side wants to be to tight.. So stupid.. IDK
