A/C problems...

I went to get my AC recharged today but when i got there, the guy said there was pressure in the lines, but the AC condensor? wasn't turning on. He said he knew this becuse the magnetic ring wasn't turning...

what are some thing i should check?

when i turn AC on from inside the car, the idle jumps up, so i think that rules out the switch from inside the car...

im also not sure which fuse is for the AC system or where the relays are located.

Start by checking for voltage at the compressor (not condensor.) There is a thick wire that goes to it... Follow that back to the cover over the power steering resivoir... Remove the cover and there should be a few wires under it... Should be a green wire with a yellow stripe IIRC... Unhook that wire and check for voltage with the A/C "on" or "off." If no voltage, there is a relay to check that came in pre 99.5's I think that goes bad... Do a search for my name and A/C... Should be fairly recent...

Sounds the same as mine - having my hi/low pressure switch changed out today while its at the garage.

bad news - didn't fix the problem

going to make an appointment again in the near future.
