    DIY vent boost gauge.....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
has anyone done it in B6 A4. I found a DIY thread for a B5 A4, but wanted to make sure if the process is the same. Maybe vent sized a different and what not. Any input is much appreciated.

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

i know you dont want to hear it but it is just easier to fork over the dough and not go thru the trouble. just my opinion though. i got my guage pod for $79 from ecstuning.com and looks great. they also sell a install kit fairly cheap too.

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

Will see, its really not that hard to cut out the vent, I just don't know what is behind it. Paying out $250 for something that you can make yourself is just wrong in my opinion. Podi is another way to go but again a complete kit is around $ 250. Otherwise you can get a gauge for $60.

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

The AWE Vent Guage Pod install instructions are on their website... you take the vent out completely and remove a few things.. that should answer your questions..GL

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

I guess my post creates confusion. I'm looking to make my own vent opening for gauge and not install a pre-made vent. Sorry guys.

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

^^^ I meant they have detailed instructions on how to remove the vent since you wanted to know what was behind it and what not with pics, so you don't cut anyting important...It'll even show you how they ran the vacuum line and wiring if you go with an illuminated gauge...

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

    Max,

I did Adam Bennett's AWE boost guage and made the vent myself. I am doing mine on Sunday. Want to do yours too soon after? Or I could do your vent for you and hand it off. Whichever.

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

good luck with this one, the vent slats are not connected to each other like they are on the B5. It would take a lot of work to get them to line up correctly. But if you can do it go for it.

    Re: DIY vent boost gauge.....

I tried to do mine myself and hacked the crap out of the vent slats. I wasted my time. I will tell you the top and bottom slats are metal and the 3 in between are plastic. You will also need a boost gauge small enough to fit in it if u want it to work. I ended up spending the money for the awe one because i liked the way it looked and fit.
