About to chip but...

I'm wondering if I can get some sort of list of items from you guys that have had problems with after you chipped your car. I know my DV will probably fail but I also was wondering about any connections or fittings, stuff like that. Figure if I'm going to the shop to chip it might as well fix the few items that will probably break or go bad anyway. I know this topic is beat to death but I searched and seems like there are a millions different answers...Thanks!!

I chipped my car with APR 93 after 1000 miles, 3 years ago. I haven't encontered one single problem but a permanent grin is on my face everytime I drive my car. :)

Everyone who chips is always scared of what can happen, chipping isnt really a bad thing unless you tune it yourself and create settings the car can not handle. The car's ecu is very very smart, and will correct and shut down the additional programs to protect the engine.

The only problem with chipping that would occur is the stock dv will blow. This also depends on how hard you drive your car and how long you keep high boost. So far, I am boosting at 20-22 and havent had anyyyy problems with stock dv, I am sure it will go eventually.

If you go with any chip and keep their settings and not play with them (only revo from my knowledge) then you will be fine, besides dv.

not sure what type of connections or fittings you are referring to, but if you didnt know the chip flashing is done via the obd-2 and no tuner has to remove your ecu..it is not like the old days.

hopefully this answers your question, you will see a night and day difference on your RPMS!

Quattro summed it up. Ive had my chip for about 7000 miles or so, the only problem i have had is limp mode only once on a full throttle pull in 4th gear in the low 4000 RPM's (110-120). From what I have gathered, this is due to a soft cam driving the fuel pump. There is an Audi TSB on it meaning that they will fix it if they are able to recognize it. Check out the sticky thread on common problems, and you would get more than enough information on the topic. I am running the APR 93 and absolutely love it!! I have taken the car into the dealer twice and just switch it over to the stock program with no problems what so ever.

ive been riding with revo stg 2 for 20k miles on my stock ko3 and go for alot of spirited runs and no problem *knock on wood* *god forbid* LOL

Well thanks for making my mind up on wanting to go today and do it! I can't wait! The only thing is that the closest shop is a AWE Tuning shop about an hour and a half away so if the dealer flashes my car afterwards I will have to go back but for now I see a road trip shortly in my future..... Jack stands and about an hour or so depending on your skills.. No its not that bad, straight forward.. the only pain is that your need to remove the plastic under body to even get to the section. You can get one for around 200. There is a DIY on the process, very helpful. Good luck!

Yes that is correct, I was stating the Forge DV price, taken that you would need to replace a DV due to tear/malfunction, odds are your are going to want to replace it with something that will not fail again, but i stand corrected.
