I couldnt get the car to run for shit with the 630's, so Ive had it unplugged for a few days. Adrian said to try it without the TIP and see how it felt since I had no need for the TIP without the MAF. I will definitely NOT be putting one back on!

FWIW, we needed the 550's I had for a car at the shop and couldnt get them in time, 630's we found locally so we got the 630's and swapped, otherwise Id still have the 550's which were flawless with the TIP and 3" MAF setup I had

Carbonio has been gone for quite some time And yes painted the valve cover black, got some gas on it changing the injectors and it jacked up the last color I had painted it, figured it was up for a change

uhhhhh ... perhaps if it were running on SEM and had everything from the engine bay removed as I do. With a stock setup, quite a few TIP connections are required. Stock turbo software will not run MAF'less either, only REVO BT software or as I said, with SEM

EDIT: Nor would there be any reason or purpose to. It wouldnt gain any power, might possibly lose some because of the location of the turbo

hey shawn -- one more off topic question. if removing the cluster-fuck of vac lines along the backside of the engine, do i need any check valves at all? for instance -- i see that your brake booster line is run straight to the manifold.. the only vac connections that i need are brakes and power steering.

also, do you think i can run a breather filter on the place where that 3-way elbow is on the valve cover? or do i need to leave that and run a line that points down like you? I want to eliminate as much as humanly possible back there... it's sickening when you really start tracing all the lines around just how many there are.

    Daniel,
Yes. Check valves should stay in place.

I sketched up a simplification based upon the vacuum/pcv diagram from the Bentley. I'm also going to a two-can catch can system. Shawn has seen it but doesn't quite fully agree with what I'm keeping (feels I can go to a 1 can system and remove some other stuff). John (Condo) is working on this right now and the two of use have been working it out together.

    Shawn,
Engine compartment looks good! 630s FTW!

You do not need a check valve on the brake booster line (unless of course you need one to keep it from popping the hose out of the grommet on the firewall), there is already a check valve on the brake booster itself. There arent any vac lines going to the power steering, Im guessing your referring to the two hardlines that run directly under the power steering resevoir? If so, those are for EVAP and run into the charcoal cansiter in the drivers side fender well. If your keeping EVAP, you will need check valves on any of its connections to the IM as you never want that system pressurized.

A breather filter would work fine on the crank/VC breather, a catch can (or two for that matter) really is not needed. The breather would work fine or a large diameter dump hose like mine will just keep the engine bay a bit cleaner!

See above, check valves are only needed for EVAP connections to the IM. Curious to see what you come up with, in my eyes, simple is better. If you want to get complex with it, stick with it as it came from the factory, Im sure it was engineered better than any other way of keeping it "stock-like."
